Abstract

Membaca permulaan merupakan dasar untuk memahami simbol-simbol tulisan yang dibutuhkan oleh individu untuk melanjutkan proses keterampilan membaca selanjutnya. Kurangya keterampilan membaca pada siswa tunarungu karena dari dampak ketunarunguan yang dialaminya. Subjek pada penelitian ini belum terampil dalam membaca khususnya membaca permulaan. Setelah diadakannya assesmen mengenai materi membaca permulaan yang meliputi komponen mengenal huruf, membaca suku kata dan membaca kata pada siswa tunarungu kelas 2. Peneliti melakukan inovasi pada proses pembelajaran yaitu menggunakan media pembelajaran kartu kata bergambar dengan tujuan meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa tunarungu. Penelitian menggunakan metode Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain pengulangan model A-B-A. Subjek penelitian berjumlah satu orang siswa tunarungu kelas 2 SDLB. Kondisi keterampilan siswa pada baseline 1 (A1) yaitu 49,48%, pada saat intervensi (B) yaitu 77,8%, dan pada kondisi baseline-2 (A-2) sebesar 80,8%. Terjadi peningkatan dari tiap kondisi, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran kartu kata bergambar dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan pada siswa tunarungu kelas 2 di SLBN B Garut. ----------- Pre-reading is the basis for understanding the writing symbols required by individuals to continue the process of subsequent reading skills. The lack of reading skills of deaf students occurs due to the impact of their deafness. The subject of this research is not skilled in reading, especially in pre-reading. After executing the assessment of the materials of pre-reading including components of recognizing letters, reading syllables and reading a word to the deaf second grader, I made an innovation in learning process , namely, using learning media in the form of picture-word cards with intent to improve pre-reading skills of the deaf students. This research used Single Subject Research (SSR) method with A-B-A repetition model. The research subject was one deaf second grader in SDLB (Special Elementary School). The condition of the student’s skill is 49,48% at baseline 1 (A1), 77,8% at intervention, and 80,8% at baseline-2 (A-2). There is an improvement of each condition so that it can be concluded that learning media in the form of picture-word cards can improve pre-reading skill of hearing impairment’s student class 2 at SLBN B Garut.
