Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan Strategi Metakognitif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan apresiasi cerita pendek. Rendahnya pemahaman peserta didik tentang cerita pendek berdampak pula pada kemampuan mengapresiasikannya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 4 Percontohan Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Percontohan Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes uraian kemampuan apresiasi cerita pendek. Perlakuan yang diberikan kepada kelas eksperimen adalah pembelajaran apresiasi cerita pendek dengan Strategi Metakognitif melalui tiga tahapan planning, monitoring, dan evaluation. Data yang diperoleh setelah memberikan tes kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial (uji-t). Berdasarkan analisis data, nilai rata-rata prates kemampuan apresiasi cerita pendek di kelas eksperimen sebesar 48 dan pascates sebesar 62. Adapun nilai rata-rata prates kemampuan apresiasi cerita pendek di kelas kontrol sebesar 35 dan pascates sebesar 40. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dengan kriteria ujinya adalah terima H0 jika sig.> α = 0,01 dan tolak H0 jika sig.< α = 0,01. Hasil uji-t menunjukkan nilai sig (2-tailed) = 0,000. Karena 0,000 < α = 0,01, maka H0 ditolak. Hasil tersebut dapat diartikan nilai rata-rata pascates peserta didik kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada peserta didik kelas kontrol. Artinya terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan setelah peserta didik diberikan perlakuan. Oleh karena itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Strategi Metakognitif berpengaruh dalam peningkatan kemampuan apresiasi cerita pendek.;--- This research aims to find out more clearly the influence of Metacognitive Strategies to improve the ability of short story appreciation. The low understanding of students on short story affects to the ability to appreciate it. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental research method. The population of this research is the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang. The instrument used is description test of short story appreciation ability. The treatment given to the experimental class is the learning of short story appreciation with Metacognitive Strategy through three stages planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The data obtained after giving the test is then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics (t-test). Based on the data analysis, the average value of short story appreciation ability prates in the experimental class is 48 and pascates of 62. The average value of short story appreciation ability prates in the control class is 35 and pascates of 40. Hypothesis test using t-test with the test criteria is received H0 if sig.> α = 0.01 and reject H0 if sig. < α = 0.01. The t-test results show the sig value (2-tailed) = 0,000. Because 0,000 < α = 0.01, then H0 is rejected. The result can be interpreted that the average value of pascates of experiment class learners is significantly higher than control class students. This means that there are significant differences in learning outcomes after the students are given treatment. Therefore, the results showed that Metacognitive Strategy has an effect on improving the ability of short story appreciation.
