Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana kompetensi komunikasi lintas budaya antara dokter kota dan desa dalam pelayanan medis di RSUD Sumedang dan Puskesmas Situraja Kabupaten Sumedang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif yang memaparkan analisa situasi secara sistematis. Penelitian ini berusaha memaparkan hasil analisa bagaimana teori komunikasi lintas budaya terjadi terhadap proses komunikasi antara dokter kota-desa dan bagaimana penanganan dokter kota-desa menghadapi perbedaan budaya. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua informan yang merupakan dokter umum berbeda budaya di RSUD Sumedang dan Puskesmas Situraja. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa kompetensi komunikasi lintas budaya antara dokter kota dan desa dalam pelayanan medis memiliki perbedaan terkait penggunaan bahasa (verbal dan non verbal), nilai budaya normatif (norma, sistem kepercayaan kesehatan dan kebiasaan kesehatan), folk illness, keterlibatan orang tua pasien dan praktik penyedia layanan kesehatan terkait budaya. ----------- This research aim to find out how the communication competence of cross cultural communication among urban and rural doctors in medical service at Sumedang Regional Public Hospital and Situraja Community Health Clinic in Sumedang. Research method which was used is qualitative descriptive method in order to describe the systematic situation analysis. This research tries to explain the resultant analysis of how cross cultural theory occurs in the communication process among urban and rural doctors and how they faced cultural differences. This research involved two general doctor informants who have different culture in Sumedang Regional Public Hospital and Situraja Community Health Clinic. The result of this research found that cross cultural communication between urban and rural doctors in medical service differed in language (verbal and non-verbal), normative cultural values (norms, belief systems and health habits), folk illness, patient’s parental involvement and the practice of culture related healthcare providers.
