Abstract

Kemajuan informasi dan teknologi akibat arus globalisasi berdampak pada kehidupan bangsa Indonesia terutama bagi yang tinggal di luar negeri, misalnya Singapura. Singapura adalah salah satu negara yang menjadi tempat pertemuan berbagai budaya asing baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Beragam budaya asing yang berkembang di Singapura tidak semua memiliki nilai positif dan dikhawatirkan dapat mempengaruhi karakter cinta tanah air bangsa Indonesia khususnya para generasi penerus bangsa. Pemerintah Indonesia telah mengupayakan agar generasi penerus bangsa dapat memiliki karakter cinta tanah air yang kuat, salah satunya melalui pendidikan karakter di sekolah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Sekolah Indonesia Singapura (SIS) dalam mengembangkan karakter cinta tanah air pada siswa. Karakter cinta tanah air perlu ditumbuhkan dan dikembangkan agar generasi penerus bangsa dapat menjaga kehormatan dan kedaulatan bangsa dan negara Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Milles and Huberman. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa SIS berperan dalam mengembangkan karakter cinta tanah air pada siswa. Beberapa strategi SIS, antara lain: mengintegrasikan nilai cinta tanah air dalam mata pelajaran, mengintegrasikan dalam beragam kegiatan pengembangan diri, dan mengintegrasikan ke dalam budaya sekolah. Akan tetapi, terdapat kendala dalam mengembangkan karakter cinta tanah air siswa, baik kendala dari dalam maupun dari luar sekolah. Meskipun demikian, SIS melakukan berbagai upaya untuk mengatasi kendala-kendala tersebut. Dengan demikian, pengembangan karakter cinta tanah air siswa di SIS dapat terlaksana. ---------- The advancement of information and technology as the effect of the globalization’s flow impacts the life of the Indonesian people, especially for those who live abroad, such as in Singapore. Singapore is one of the countries where foreign cultures meet either directly or indirectly. Not all the various foreign cultures that developed in Singapore have positive values. Besides, it is feared can affect the character of loving the homeland of Indonesia, especially for the next generation of the nation. The Indonesian government has some efforts in order to grow a strong love of the homeland for the next generations, one of them is through character education in school. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of Indonesian School in Singapore (SIS) in developing the character of loving homeland on the students. The character of loving the homeland needs to be grown and developed for the next generation of the nation to maintain the honor and sovereignty of the nation and state of Indonesia. The research method used in this research was qualitative research approach with case study method. Data collection was done through the interview, observation, and documentation study. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, the model from Milles and Huberman was utilized. The research findings indicate that SIS plays a role in developing the character of loving homeland on the students. Some of SIS's strategies include: integrating the value of loving homeland in the subjects, integrating into a variety of self-development activities, and integrating into the school culture. However, there are some obstacles in developing the loving homeland character on the students, both constraints come from within and from outside the school. Nevertheless, SIS makes every effort to overcome these obstacles. Thus, the development of loving homeland character on the students in SIS can be implemented.
