Abstract

Penelitian yang dilaksanakan pada Sekolah Dasar di Jalan Cipedes, Sukajadi Kota Bandung ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya literasi informasi siswa kelas tinggi Sekolah Dasar dengan 100% siswa belum memiliki literasi informasi yang baik. Dalam dunia pendidikan saat ini, siswa dituntut untuk bisa mengorganisasikan dan menemukan informasi sebagai pengetahuan secara mandiri dan menerapkan prinsip-prinsip pendidikan seumur hidup. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IVA yang berjumlah 20 orang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model empowering 8 untuk meningkatkan literasi informasi siswa kelas tinggi Sekolah Dasar; dan (2) menganalisis peningkatan literasi informasi siswa kelas tinggi Sekolah Dasar setelah menerapkan model empowering 8. Penelitian dilaksanakan melalui dua siklus dengan menggunakan desain penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) Kemmis & Taggart. Selain itu, penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian mix methods desain concurrent triangulation (campuran kuantitatif dan kualitatif secara seimbang). Pengolahan data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan literasi informasi siswa setelah penerapan model empowering 8. Pada Siklus I sebanyak 70% siswa sudah memiliki kemampuan literasi informasi dengan nilai rata-rata kelas 70,25 dan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 100% dengan nilai rata-rata kelas 95 pada siklus II. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model empowering 8 dapat meningkatkan literasi informasi siswa kelas tinggi Sekolah Dasar.

The research conducted at elemtary school in Cipedes street, Sukajadi Bandung is backed by the low of information literacy of high grade students with 100% students have not good information literacy. In the world of education today, students are recuired to be able to organize and find information as knowledge independently and apply the principles of lifelong learning. Participants of this study are students of class IV A which amounted to 20 people. This research aims to (1) describe the learning process by applying empowering 8 model to increase the information literacy of high grade students of elementary school; and (2) to analyze the improvement of information literacy of high grade students of elementary school after applying empowering 8 model. The research is conducted through two cycles by using class action research Kemmis & Taggart. In addition, this research uses the mix methods of concurrent triangulation design. Data processing used is quantitative data analysis using statistics descriptive and descriptive qualitative. The result of the research shows that there is an increase of student information literacy after application of empowering 8 model. In first cycle, 70% of students already have literacy information skill with grade average of 70,25 and increase to 100% with average grade 95 on second cycle. From these result, it can be concluded that empowering 8 can increase the information literacy of high grades of elemtary school.
