Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan kemampuan pembelajar BIPA dalam melakukan komunikasi atau berbicara dengan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia karena disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor di antaranya faktor dari dalam diri pembelajar seperti kurangnya penguasaan materi, rasa malu, takut dan tidak percaya diri menjadi penghalang pembelajar BIPA untuk berkomunikasi atau berbicara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran proses pembelajaran berbicara pada saat treatment (penerapan strategi pengalaman penting), respons pembelajar BIPA tingkat mahir asal Malaysia terhadap proses kegiatan pembelajaran berbicara, dan pengaruh strategi pengalaman penting terhadap kemampuan berbicara pembelajar BIPA. Strategi pengalaman penting merupakan sebuah strategi pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk melibatkan siswa sejak awal dengan melihat pengalaman mereka dan dapat memotivasi siswa dalam belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode subjek tunggal dengan desain A-B-A. Baseline (A1), dilaksanakan empat sesi, intervensi (B) dilaksanakan lima sesi, dan baseline (A2), dilaksanakan empat sesi. Strategi pengalaman penting dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara pembelajar BIPA tingkat mahir. Hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan rata-rata nilai yang diperoleh subjek pada setiap kondisi. Rata-rata nilai yang diperoleh subjek pada kondisi baseline (A1) yaitu 64.75, intervensi (B) 77, dan baseline kedua (A2) adalah 84.5. Data overlap subjek yaitu 0%. Berdasarkan penelitian tersebut, strategi pengalaman penting terbukti dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara pembelajar BIPA yang bertemakan ragam Indonesia. ----------- This research background is the difficulty of the BIPA learner in communicating using Indonesian language caused by various factors, they are internal factor, such as the lack of material mastery, shyness, fear, and confidence matter which become the obstacles faced by the BIPA learner to communicate or speak. This research aims at investigating the portrayal of the speaking learning process in the treatment (the implementation of critical incident strategy), the response from an advanced Malaysian BIPA learner to the learning process activity, and the influence of critical incident strategy to the BIPA learner ability. Critical incident strategy is a learning strategy which is aimed at engaging the students from the beginning of the process by looking at their experience and is able to motivate the learner in learning. The method used in this research is the single subject with A-B-A baseline (A1) design, administered in four sessions, intervention (B) was administered in five sessions, while baseline (A2) was administered in four sessions. Critical incident strategy can improve the advanced BIPA learner speaking ability. This is reflected on the increase of the average score gained by the subject in every condition. The average score achieved by the subject on the first baseline (A1) condition is 64.75, 77 on the intervention (B), and 84.5 on the second baseline (A2). The overlap data of the subject was 0%. Based in the result of this research, it is proved that critical incident strategy can improve the BIPA learner speaking ability on the learning activity using Ragam Indonesia theme.
