Abstract
Toleransi beragama merupakan salah satu formula mengelola keberagaman. Dalam hal ini, pendidikan adalah jalan menuju sikap toleran tersebut. Namun, terdapat sebuah temuan yang kontradiktif dengan pendapat di atas, dimana muncul benih konflik serta kekerasan atas nama agama dengan melibatkan generasi muda (usia SMA, SMK & MA). Dunia pendidikan sedang mendapat tantangan karena ketidakmampuannya dalam membebaskan peserta didik keluar dari eksklusifitas beragama. Dari sinilah peneliti mengangkat tema perbandingan tingkat toleransi di kalangan pelajar di sekolah SMA yang berafiliasi pada lembaga Islam (SMA Islam) dan pelajar di sekolah SMA yang berafiliasi pada lembaga Kristen (SMA Kristen), di Kota Bandung, dalam upaya untuk melihat sejauh mana kedua lembaga yang berbeda naungan agama ini memerankan fungsinya untuk menanamkan sifat toleran pada para pelajarnya. Instrumen toleransi beragama terdiri dari tiga dimensi toleransi, yaitu dimensi persepsi, dimensi sikap, dan dimensi kerjasama. Serta, dengan indikator toleransi yaitu: mengakui hak-hak orang lain, saling menghormati, hidup bersama dalam keragaman, saling beretikat baik, dan memahami secara benar falsafah pancasila. Penelitian ini dilakukan di enam sekolah yang dijadikan sampel. Penelitian yang telah dilakukan, didapati kecenderungan bahwa pelajar di SMA Krsiten cenderung lebih toleran dengan tingkat toleransi yang sangat tinggi ketimbang pelajar di SMA Islam walaupun tingkat toleransinya tergolong tinggi. selanjutnya, temuan-temuan yang dirasa menjadi penyebab timbulnya intoleransi di kalangan pelajar sebaiknya ditindaklanjuti, sementara temuan yang baik sepantasnya dipertahankan, bahkan disebarluaskan, hingga menjadi model bagi institusi pendidikan lain. Kata kunci: Dialog Antar Umat Beragama, Intoleransi, Plurlaisme, Toleransi Religious tolerance is one of the formulations in managing the diversity. In this case, education is the way to get to that point. However, there is a contradictory finding with the opinion that has been said, where there are seeds of conflict and violence because of the religion that involved young generation (senior high school age). The education’s role is being challenged because of its inability to released learners out of religious exclusivity. From that occurrence, the researcher approached the comparison of tolerance level’s theme among high school students affiliated with Islamic institution (Islam High School) and Christian institution (Christian High School) in Bandung, in order to find out how far the two different religious institutions play the role to instill the tolerance attitude among each student. The instrument that has been used consist of three dimensions of tolerance, that are the dimension of perception, the dimension of attitude, and the dimension of cooperation. As well as the indicators of tolerance are: acknowledgement of others’ right, mutual respect, living together in diversity, mutual good relationships, and understanding the philosophy of Pancasila. The study was conducted in six schools which were used as sample. The result of the research has been found that there was a tendency that Christian High School students more tolerant with a very high level than Islamic High School students although the tolerance level of Islamic High School was categorize as high. Furthermore, the findings that considered as the cause of intolerance among students should be acted upon, whilst the good finding should be preserved, even disseminated, to be good examples for other educational institutions.
