Abstract

This thesis was titled "Perkembangan Komando Cadangan Strategis Angkatan Darat (KOSTRAD): Kajian Historis Tahun 1961–1965". Background why researchers taking this issue due to the interest in the condition of the development of the military organization in the early period of independence. Where, in an all-round hazard and the need for a reliable unit, has forced TNI officer AD to engender a single entity, later called Cadangan Umum Angkatan Darat or CADUAD that no other forerunner of strategic unity and also mobile today known as KOSTRAD. The main issue raised in this thesis was "How the development process as KOSTRAD combat ready unity in 1961 – 1965?". The method in this research used the method of the historical research by doing a four-step research i.e. heuristics, critique, interpretation, and historiography. While the techniques used in data collection that is literature with studies examining the sources of literature relevant. Based on the implementation of the research, the results obtained are: First, KOSTRAD founded in 1961, is the answer to the security conditions which Indonesia is at a critical phase, especially the main purpose of the arrangement relates to an attempt reconquest West Irian from the Netherlands. Second, the expansion of the KOSTRAD to be one of the elite unity is inseparable from the role as well as its first Commander namely Brigjen Soeharto. He issued a command associated with the development of the Union, including organizational development, coaching personnel, logistical purposes, and conditions of the Pataka. Third, the existence of the KOSTRAD has managed to maintain the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia, which is proven by its success in the Trikora Operation, Dwikora Operation, and operation Completion Problem G 30 S. Keywords: KOSTRAD, The Strategic Unity, Military Operations Skripsi ini berjudul “Perkembangan Komando Cadangan Strategis Angkatan Darat (KOSTRAD): Kajian Historis Tahun 1961–1965”. Latar belakang peneliti mengambil permasalahan ini dikarenakan adanya ketertarikan terhadap kondisi perkembangan organisasi militer pada periode awal kemerdekaan. Dimana, dalam keadaan serba genting dan kebutuhan akan satuan yang handal, telah memaksa perwira TNI AD untuk melahirkan satu kesatuan yang kemudian disebut Cadangan Umum Angkatan Darat atau CADUAD yang tidak lain merupakan cikal bakal kesatuan strategis dan juga mobile yang hari ini dikenal dengan sebutan KOSTRAD. Masalah utama yang diangkat dalam skripsi ini adalah “Bagaimana Perkembangan Komando Cadangan Strategis Angkatan Darat (KOSTRAD) Pada Tahun 1961 – 1965 ?”. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis dengan empat langkah penelitian dimulai dari heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Sedangkan teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data yaitu studi literatur dengan mengkaji sumber-sumber yang relevan. Berdasarkan pelaksanaan penelitian, hasil yang didapatkan diantaranya adalah: Pertama, KOSTRAD yang didirikan pada tahun 1961 merupakan jawaban atas kondisi keamanan Indonesia yang tengah berada pada fase kritis, terlebih lagi tujuan utama pembentukannya berkaitan dengan upaya perebutan kembali Irian Barat dari Belanda. Kedua, berkembangnya KOSTRAD menjadi salah satu kesatuan elit tidak terlepas dari peran serta panglima pertamanya yakni Brigjen Soeharto. Beliau mengeluarkan komando-komando berkaitan dengan pengembangan kesatuan, meliputi pengembangan organisasi, pembinaan personil, keperluan logistik, dan ketentuan pataka. Ketiga, keberadaan KOSTRAD telah berhasil menjaga kedaulatan Republik Indonesia yang terbukti dengan keberhasilannya dalam Operasi Trikora, Dwikora, dan Penyelesaian Peristiwa G 30 S.
