Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis dan mengkarakterisasi membran filtrasi komposit Kitosan-PVA-PEG dengan penambahan filler SWCNT. Pembuatan membran filtrasi komposit Kitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT dilakukan dengan metode inversi fasa. Penentuan komposisi optimum penambahan SWCNT pada membran komposit ditentukan melalui pengukuran fluk (permeabilitas). Karakterisasi membran dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumentasi FTIR, SEM, dan uji kekuatan tarik (tensile strength). Hasil sintesis menunjukkan bahwa komposisi optimum membran komposit Kitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT menggunakan pengukuran fluk pada volume total 40 ml yaitu diperoleh 13,33% dengan rasio perbandingan 6:2:5:2. Spektra FTIR memperlihatkan adanya interaksi antara Kitosan, PVA, PEG serta SWCNT yang secara dominan berlangsung melalui ikatan hidrogen antar molekul. Foto SEM menunjukkan bahwa membran Kitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT merupakan material berpori, dengan ukuran pori asimetris dan distribusi pori heterogen. Hasil pengukuran kekuatan tarik (tensile strength) pada membran Komposit kitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kekuatan sifat mekanik dan meningkatkan nilai permeabilitas membran dengan penambahan SWCNT. Penambahan SWCNT pada membran komposit dapat meningkatkan nilai fluk dari 4,38 L/m2.jam menjadi 34,96 L/m2.jam. Membran filtrasi komposit Kitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT berpotensi untuk diaplikasikan dalam proses pengolahan air.;---This study aims to synthesize and characterize the Chitosan-PVA-PEG composite filtration membrane with the addition of SWCNT filler. Preparation of Chitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT composite filtration membrane was performed by phase inversion method. The determination of the optimum composition of SWCNT addition on the composite membrane was determined by the measurement of flux (permeability). Membrane characterization was performed by using FTIR instrumentation, SEM instrumentation, and tensile strength test. The synthesis results showed that the optimum composition of the Chitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT composite membrane used a flux measurement at total volume of 40 ml is 13,33% with a ratio of 6:2:5:2. FTIR spectra showed an interaction between Chitosan, PVA, PEG, and SWCNT that predominantly progress through of intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The SEM images shows that the Chitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT membrane is a porous material, with asymmetric pore size and heterogeneous pore distribution. The result of tensile strength measurement on the Chitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT composite membrane showed an increase in the strength of mechanical properties and increase membrane permeability values with the addition of SWCNT. The addition of SWCNT to the composite membrane can increase the flux value from 4,38 L/m2.h to 34,96 L/m2.h. The Chitosan-PVA-PEG-SWCNT composite filtration membrane has the potential to be applied in water treatment process.
