Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya model pembelajaran dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dan masalah kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyimak dongeng. Tujuan dari penelitin ini diantaranya untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan menyimak dongeng sbelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran word square; serta perbedaan signifikan antara kemampuan menyimak dongeng sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran word square. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one group pretest posttest design. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 5 Banjar tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes pilihan ganda. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa 1) kemampuan menyimak dongeng siswa kelas VII-A sebelum menggunakan model pembelajaran word square termasuk ke dalam kategori belum mampu dengan rata-rata nilai 49,68; 2) kemampuan menyimak dongeng siswa kelas VII-A sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran word square termasuk ke dalam kategori mampu dengan rata-rata nilai 76,25; 3) adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menyimak dongeng siswa kelas VII-A sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran word square, yaitu meningkatnya rata-rata nilai dari 49,68 menjadi 76,25 dengan rata-rata beda 26,57. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa thitung > ttabel yaitu 8,41 > 2,71. Artinya hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima sedangkan hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak. Jadi, model pembelajaran word square dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menyimak dongeng siswa kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 5 Banjar tahun ajaran 2016/2017.,---The reseach is motivated by the lack of students ability in listening dongeng. The purpose of the study is to describe the ability in listening dongeng before and after using Word Square learning model; as well as significant differences between the ability in listening dongeng before and after using Word Square learning model. The method that was used in this study is quasi-experimental reseach with one group pretest posttest design. The data source for this reseach is class VII-A of SMP Negeri 5 Banjar academic year of 2016/2017, which has 32 students. The instrument that was used in the reseach is pilihan ganda test. Based on the result, it can be concluded that 1) the ability of class VII-A in listening dongeng before using Word Square learning model was included into incapable category with the average value of 49,68; 2) the ability of class VII-A in listening dongeng after using Word Square learning model was included into capable category with the average value of 76,25; 3) there were significant differences between the ability of class VII-A in listening dongeng before and after using Word Square learning model, i.e. the increased average value of 49,68 into 76,25 with the average difference of 26,57. Hypothesis test results show that tcount > ttable, i.e. 8,41 > 2,71. That means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, whereas the nul hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. According to this, Word Square learning model can improve the ability of class VII-A of SMP Negeri 5 Banjar academic year of 2016/2017 in listening dongeng.
