Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tentang isu-isu lingkungan hidup pada pembelajaran IPS di kelas VIII B SMP Pasundan 6 Bandung. Peneliti memilih model Problem Based Instruction sebagai upaya untuk memperbaiki kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tentang isu-isu lingkungan hidup. Pemilihan model PBI dikarenakan memiliki ciri pembelajaran dengan dimulai dari masalah, kemudian dianalisis untuk dipecahkan sampai pada pengambilan keputusan. Permasalahan disajikan dari sebuah artikel masalah yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hasil, serta kendala dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tentang isu-isu lingkungan hidup melalui model Problem Based Instruction. Peneliti memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kemmis & Taggart dengan terdiri dari 3 siklus. Dalam setiap siklusnya terdiri dari tiga tindakan, dengan jumlah keseluruhan sebanyak sembilan tindakan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan dimulai dengan menyusun RPP, memilih artikel berbasis lingkungan hidup, dan menyiapkan instrumen penelitian. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran disesuaikan dengan perencanaan yang telah dilakukan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah meningkatnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa tentang isu-isu lingkungan hidup di setiap siklusnya. Peningkatan tersebut salah satunya ditandai dengan siswa dapat mengenal masalah yang ada di artikel serta dapat memberikan solusi. Kendala yang dihadapi adalah memilih artikel masalah yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan. Solusi untuk mengatasinya dengan mencari artikel jauh-jauh hari sebelum pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPS dimulai.;---The research was distributed by low level of critical thinking ability of students about environmental issues to the study of social studies in class VIII B junior high school Pasundan 6, Bandung. The researchers chose a model Problem Based Instruction in an effort to improve the critical thinking ability of students about environmental issues. The selection model of the PBI due to have with learning starting from the problem, then analyzed for broken up on decision making. The problems are presented from an article relating to the environment. The purpose of this study was to describe the planning, execution, results, as well as constraints in improving critical thinking ability of students about environmental issues through Problem Based Instruction models. The researchers chose the class action Research model Kemmis & Taggart with consists of 3 cycles. In each cycle consists of three acts, with a total number of nine action. Research findings show that planning began with composing RPP, chose articles based environment, and setting up a research instrument. Implementation of learning tailored to the planning has been done. The results of this research is the increased ability of critical thinking students about environmental issues in each cycle. The increase in the one marked with the students can get to know the problems that exist in the article and can provide the solution. Obstacles faced was in choosing the articles relating to the environment. The solution to deal with it is by finding the article away days before implementation of the IPS study begins.
