Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan asal-usul nama tempat, pola
pemberian nama tempat yang ada di Kecamatan Cimalaka Kabupaten Sumedang
dan bahan ajar dongeng di SMP kelas VII. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode
kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun tehnik yang digunakan ialah tehnik observasi, tehnik
wawancara, tehnik dokumentasi, dan tehnik studi pustaka. Hasil dari penelitian
ini adalah sebagai berikut: Pertama, mendeskripsikan asal-usul nama tempat
yang di ambil dari lingkungan disekelilingnya seperti nama kampung yang
berawalan “Ci” serta dari kejadian-kejadian yang pernah ada di tempat tersebut.
Kedua, pola pemberian nama tempat di Kecamatan Cimalaka yang dikelompokan
ke dalam dua aspek yaitu aspek fisikal dan aspek non fisikal. Ada 72% nama
tempat yang termasuk kedalam aspek fisikal, 15% nama tempat yang termasak ke
dalam aspek sosial, dan 13% nama tempat yang termasuk ke dalam aspek
kultural. Dalam pengelompokan nama tempat tersebut, terdapat beberapa nama
tempat yang termasuk ke dalam dua aspek. Ketiga, terdapa sembilan asal-usul
penamaan tempat yang dapat dijadikan bahan ajar dongeng di kelas VII SMP.----------This study aims to describe the origins of place names and its pattern in giving the
names at Cimalaka District, Sumedang Village also the fairy tale instructional
material for seventh grade student. This research used descriptive qualitative
method with the techniques used were observation, interview, documentary, and
literature study. The results of this study are as follows: First, describing the
origins of place names which taken from the around environment like village’s
name which started with “Ci” also from histories that happened in that place.
Second, the pattern of nomenclature of place names at Cimalaka District are
grouped into two aspects, they are physically and non-physically. Where as72%
place names which belong to the physical aspects, 15% place names that belong
to the social aspect, and 13% place names that belong to the cultural aspect. In
grouping the name of the place, there are some place names which belong to the
two aspects. Third, there are nine origins of naming the place that can be used as
learning materials in seventh grade student, particularly those related to the fairy
tale instructional material.
