Abstract

Ekstrakurikuler Palang Merah Remaja merupakan wadah pembinaan dan pengembangan potensi siswa yang berperan dalam membina karakter siswa khususnya karakter kepedulian sosial. Melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler palang merah remaja siswa diharapkan mempunyai karakter kepedulian sosial yang dapat diimplementasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui peranan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler palang merah remaja dalam meningkatkan kepedulian sosial siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi dan catatan lapangan. Temuan penelitian ini yaitu 1) program kerja ekstrakurikuler palang merah remaja dalam meningkatkan kepedulian sosial siswa yaitu latihan rutin, donor darah, bakti sosial, penyuluhan HIV, mengikuti kegiatan perlombaan dan diklat pendidikan dasar; 2) metode yang digunakan ekstrakurikuler palang merah remaja dalam meningkatkan kepedulian sosial siswa yaitu berlatih secara rutin dan intensif, pembinaan dan pendekatan secara langsung, menggunakan model pembelajaran yang tidak monoton dan moral action; 3) nilai-nilai kepedulian sosial yang dikembangkan melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler palang merah remaja yaitu empati, tolong menolong, rela berkorban, kebersamaan, kerjasama, kesetiakawanan dan tanggung jawab; 4) faktor penghambat dalam pelaksanaan program kegiatan ekstrakurikuler palang merah remaja yaitu berasal dari internal dan eksternal. Hambatan internal yaitu berasal dari anggota ekstrakurikuler palang merah itu sendiri, sedangkan faktor eksternal yaitu dana, sarana prasarana dan izin orang tua siswa; 5) upaya dalam mengatasi hambatan tersebut yaitu memberikan teguran, nasihat, melakukan pendekatan secara personal, melakukan dana usaha, bekerjasama dengan sponsorship, menyesuaikan jadwal dengan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler lainnya dan menjalin komunikasi yang baik dengan orang tua siswa. ;--- Red Cross Youth extracurricular is a place for developing student’s potentials who play a role in building students character, especially the social awareness character. Through the red cross youth extracurricular activities, students are expected to have a social awareness character that can be implemented in daily life. This study was conducted to determine the role of red cross youth extracurricular activities in improving students' social awareness. This research use qualitative approach with descriptive method. Data collections was done by interview, observation, documentation study and field note. The findings of this research are 1) work program of red cross youth extracurricular in improving social awareness of students are routine exercise, blood donation, social service, HIV counseling, attending competition and basic education; 2) the method used by red cross youth extracurricular in improving students' social awareness are training regularly and intensively, coaching and approach directly, using non-monotonous learning model and moral action; 3) the values of social awareness are developed through red cross youth extracurricular activities, namely empathy, helping each other, willingness to sacrifice, togetherness, cooperation, solidarity and responsibility; 4) the inhibiting factors in the implementation of red cross youth extracurricular activities program is from internal and external. Internal obstacles come from the red cross youth extracurricular members themselves, while external factors are funding, facilities and parent's permits; 5) efforts to overcome these obstacles are giving reprimands, advice, personal approach, doing business funding, cooperation with sponsorship, adjusting schedule with other extracurricular activities and establishing good communication with parents.
