Abstract
Sistem klasifikasi yang digunakan Perpustakaan IKOPIN adalah sistem Library of Congress Classification (LCC). Sistem klasifikasi yang berbeda dari yang digunakan perpustakaan pada umumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian umum yaitu, “Bagaimana penggunaan sistem Library of Congress Classification (LCC) dalam temu balik informasi di Perpustakaan IKOPIN?” serta menjawab pertanyaan penelitian secara khusus, yaitu (1) Apa alasan pustakawan menggunakan sistem Library of Congress Classification (LCC) di Perpustakaan IKOPIN?, (2) Bagaimana proses temu balik informasi yang dilakukan di perpustakaan IKOPIN, dan (3) Apa saja hambatan dalam temu balik informasi yang dilakukan oleh pustakawan dengan menggunakan sistem Library of Congress Classification (LCC) di perpustakaan IKOPIN?. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah dua orang pustakawan dan Alumnus IKOPIN yang sudah lama melakukan magang di perpustakaan IKOPIN serta Informan yang ahli di bidang klasifikasi. Deskripsi hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan sistem klasifikasi ini memudahkan temu balik informasi yang dilakukan oleh pustakawan pada rak koleksi. Hal tersebut dikarenakan penggunaan sistem layanan tertutup pada Perpustakaan IKOPIN sehingga koleksi pada rak tersusun rapi dan penemuan kembali informasi menjadi lebih mudah. Penelitian ini mendapatkan model alur pencarian informasi yang dilakukan pada Perpustakaan IKOPIN yang dilakukan oleh pemustaka dan pustakawan. Model alur pencarian informasi ini disesuaikan dengan sistem layanan tertutup yang ada di perpustakaan IKOPIN.;---The classification system used by the IKOPIN Library is the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system, that is different from those used by libraries generally. This study aims to answer general question “How is the use of Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system on information retrieval at the IKOPIN Library?” and also to answer particular questions as such: (1) What is the reason of librarian for using Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system in the IKOPIN Library? (2) How is the process of information retrieval conducted by the librarian in the West Java IKOPIN Library? and (3) What are the constraints at information retrieval conducted by the librarian by using Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system in the IKOPIN Library? This study uses qualitative approach with descriptive method. The subjects of this study are two librarians, an alumni of IKOPIN who has long been apprenticed in the IKOPIN Library and informants who are experts in the field of classification. The results of this study indicates that the use of this classification system facilitates the information retrieval conducted by librarians on the collection shelves. It is because of the closed service system used in the IKOPIN Library so that the collection arrangement on the shelves looks appropriate and the retrieval of information becomes easier. This research gets a model of information retrieval process at IKOPIN Library conducted by user and librarian. This information search path model is tailored to the closed service system at the IKOPIN library.
