Abstract

Salah satu tujuan dari pendidikan sains adalah untuk menciptakan generasi masa depan yang mampu menghadapi dan menyelesaikan masalah globalisasi sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup yang lebih baik. Menjadi seseorang yang kreatif merupakan salah satu usaha untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut. Sekolah adalah tempat dimana siswa dapat mengembangkan keterampilan tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi dan mendeskripsikan disposisi kreatif, keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan produk kreatif siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran sains berbasis rancangan engineering. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu Sekolah Menengah Pertama di Bandung dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Secara umum, penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahapan, yakni (1) studi pendahuluan; (2) pembiasaan kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan kegiatan berbasis rancangan engineering; (3) analisis dan pembahasan. Instrument yang digunakan untuk mengukur disposisi kreatif adalah angket penilaian diri yang dikembangkan berdasarkan Lucas, Claxton dan Spencer (2013), sedangkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif diukur dengan menggunakan rubrik yang dikembangkan berdasarkan Torrance (1977), dan produk kreatif diukur dengan menggunakan rubrik yang dikembangkan berdasarkan Amabile (1996). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan disposisi kreatif siswa sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis rancangan engineering. Berbeda dengan hasil disposisi kreatif, capaian persentase rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan produk kreatif siswa berbeda pada setiap topik pembelajaran. Capaian persentase rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kreatif pada pembelajaran berbasis rancangan engineering terkait pembuatan kandang jangkrik lebih tinggi dibandingkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif pada pembelajaran berbasis rancangan engineering terkait pembuatan alat penjernih air. Demikian halnya dengan capaian persentase rata-rata produk kreatif, persentase rata-rata yang dicapai untuk produk kreatif kandang jangkrik lebih tinggi dibandingkan produk kreatif alat penjernih air. Pembahasan terkait kegiatan pembelajaran sains berbasis rancangan engineering, disposisi kreatif, keterampilan berpikir kreatif, produk kreatif, dan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya disajikan pada tesis ini.----------One of the purposes of science education is to create a better future generation who is able to face and solve globalization’s problems in order to improve their quality of life. Being creative is one of the efforts to achieve that purpose. School is the place where students might develop that skill. Therefore, this study aims to investigate and describe students’ creative disposition, creative thinking skill, and creative product in engineering design based science learning activity. This study was conducted in one of junior high schools in Bandung. Research method that is used is descriptive. Instrument that is used to measure creative disposition is selfassessment questionnaire that is developed based on indicators from Lucas, Claxton, and Spencer (2013), while creative thinking skill is measured by using rubric that is developed based on Torrance (1977), and creative product is measured by using rubric that is developed based on Amabile (1996) Analysis result shows that there is an improvement of students’ creative disposition after they learn science using engineering design based science learning activity. Meanwhile in students’ creative thinking skill and creative product, the average percentage which achieved is different between lesson related to creating product of cricket cage and water purification tool. Students’ performance in creative thinking skill related to the creating of cricket cage is better than students’ performance in creative thinking skill related to the creating of water purification tool. The same result is shown in creative product in which creative product of cricket cage is better than water purification tools. The discussion related to engineering design based science learning activity, students’ creative disposition, creative thinking skill, creative product, as well as factors that might affect those variables are served.
