Abstract

ABSTRAK Annisa Andry (1206597), “Pengaruh Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning Melalui Metode Debat terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa (Studi Kuasi Eksperimen di Kelas XI IIS SMA Negeri 24 Bandung pada Materi Ketenagakerjaan)”, dibawah bimbingan Dr. Hj. Neti Budiwati, M.Si dan Leni Permana, S.Pd,.M.Pd. Latar belakang dalam penelitian ini adalah masih rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas XI IIS SMA Negeri 24 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2015/2016. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran problem based learning melalui metode debat terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI IIS SMA Negeri 24 Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen dengan Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes tertulis dalam bentuk uraian. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan statistik parametrik meliputi uji beda rata-rata (paired samples t-test dan independent samples t-test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (i) Terjadi peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen pada kategori sedang, (ii) Terjadi peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis kelas kontrol pada kategori sedang, tetapi peningkatannya lebih rendah daripada kelas eksperimen, (iii) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara siswa kelas eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan model pembelajaran problem based learning melalui metode debat dengan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode ceramah. Neti Budiwati, M.Si and Leni Permana, S.Pd, M.Pd The background of this research is the lack of students’ critical thinking skills of class XI IIS SMA Negeri 24 Bandung year 2015/2016. The aim of this study was to know the influences application of problem based learning with debate methods toward the students’ critical thinking skills. The subject in this research was the students of XI IIS class at SMA Negeri 24 Bandung. The research method used a quasi-experimental with Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The essay test used to collecting data. Statistical parametric used to hypothesis test are covering different tests average (paired samples t-test and independent samples t-test). The research results showed : (i) Students critical thinking skills in experiment class increased on the middle category, (ii) And in control class the student increase got the same category as the experiment class in middle category, but an increasing more lack than experiment class, (iii) There are differences improvement on students’ critical thinking skills between experiment class that use problem based learning with debate methods and controls class that use lecture methods.
