Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami bacaan. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan masih adanya siswa yang belum dapat memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada upaya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa melalui penerapan metode SQ3R. Secara umum, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode SQ3R untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SD. Adapun secara khusus, penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan:1) Rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP) dengan menerapkan SQ3R,2) Proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan metode SQ3R, dan 3) peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa setelah menerapkan metode pembelajaran SQ3R. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas dengan mengadaptasi model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus. Subjek penelitiannya 28 siswa kelas IV SDN yang berada di kecamatan Sukasari. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan tes hasil belajar. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode SQ3R dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SDN. Adapun secara khusus temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) penerapan metode SQ3R perlu didahului dengan penyusunan RPP dengan baik sebagai acuan dalam rangka pembelajaran. 2) Penerapan metode SQ3R dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa kelas IV SDN.3) Penerapan metode SQ3R dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SDN. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan data nilai rata-rata pada pra siklus sebesar 69, siklus I 70,75, dan siklus II 80,76. Adapun ketuntasan belajar siklus I sebesar 56% dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 80%. Maka dari itu, diharapkan metode SQ3R dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia maupun dalam mata pelajaran lainnya.;---This study is based on the students’ low ability in comprehending reading material. It is proofed by the fact that there are still some students who achieve grades which does not meet the Minimum Mastery Criteria in Indonesian Literature. This study is focused on the effort in improving the students’ comprehension ability in reading with SQ3R application. Generally, this study’s purpose is to describe the application of SQ3R method and to improve the fourth graders’ comprehension ability in reading. While specifically this study’s purpose is to describe: 1) the lesson plan with SQ3R method application, 2) the teaching process with SQ3R method application, and 3) the improvement of students’ comprehension ability in reading after SQ3R method is applied. The method which is used in this study is research in class action by adapting Kemmis’ and Mc. Taggart’s model. This research was done in two cycles. The research subjects are 28 fourth graders of a public elementary school which is located in Sukasari District. Data collecting was done by observation and test for learning outcomes. Generally the study’s finding shows that the application of SQ3R method can improve the students’ comprehension ability in reading. While specifically this study findings show that 1) the application of SQ3R method need to be preceded firstly by forming the lesson plan as a reference in learning process. 2) The application of SQ3R method can improve the fourth graders’ learning activity. 3) The application of SQ3R method can improve the fourth graders’ comprehension ability in reading. It is showed by the average grading toward students’ reading ability in both cycles was 69, with 70.75 for cycle 1 and 80.76 for cycle II. While the class learning completeness for cycle I was 56%, and it was increased to 80% in cycle II. Based on those results, it is expected that SQ3R method can be applied in Indonesian Literature or any other subjects.
