Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada rendahnya hasil belajar matematika dalam aspek kemampuan pemecahan masalah, koneksi matematis, dan motivasi belajar siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E. Learning Cycle 7E adalah model pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa dengan memiliki tujuh tahapan, yaitu elicit, engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate, dan extend. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, koneksi matematis dan motivasi belajar siswa antara siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E dan siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional. Desain penelitian yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah non equivalent group pretest-posttest design dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Lembang dan sampel penelitian siswa kelas VIII sebanyak dua kelas yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan data hasil penelitian berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan koneksi matematis, skala motivasi belajar, dan pedoman observasi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-t, uji Mann-Whitney, dan ANAVA satu jalur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan koneksi matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E lebih baik dibandingkan siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Tidak terdapat perbedaaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan koneksi matematis siswa yang belajar melalui Learning Cycle 7E ditinjau dari motivasi belajar. Pencapaian motivasi belajar siswa dengan pembelajaran Learning Cycle 7E lebih baik dibandingkan siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional.;---This research focused on the lack of mathematics learning outcomes in aspects of students’ mathematical problem solving, connection abilities, and learning motivation in Junior High School. One of learning model can be used to solve these problems are 7E Learning Cycle model. The 7E Learning Cycle is student-centered learning model which had seven phases, namely: elicit, engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate, and extend. The purpose of this research was finding out the differences in students’ attainment and enhancement of mathematical problem solving, connection abilities and learning motivation who received 7E Learning Cycle and students who received conventional learning. Research design conducted in this research was a non equivalent group pretest-posttest design with the entire population of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 of Lembang and the research sample are the eighth grade students as many as two classes were selected by purposive sampling. The instrument that was used to get the outcomes research data are tests of mathematical problem solving and connection abilities, learning motivation questionnaire and observation sheet. All of data was analyzed using t test, Mann-Whitney test, and one-way ANAVA. The result of this research shows students’ attainment and enhancement of mathematical problem solving and connection abilities who learn through 7E Learning Cycle were better than students who learn through conventional learning. There was no difference students’ enhancement of mathematical problem solving and connection abilities who learn through 7E Learning Cycle based on learning motivation. The students’ attainment of learning motivation who learn through 7E Learning Cycle were better than students who learn through conventional learning.
