Abstract

Keterampilan Kewarganegaraan (civic skills) merupakan kompetensi yang harus dicapai oleh siswa pada mata pelajaran PPKn. Pada saat siswa memiliki civic skills yang rendah maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa tersebut belum mencapai tujuan pembelajaran dengan baik. Penelitian dilakukan berdasarkan hasil pengamatan awal yang ditemukan masalah yaitu mengenai civic skills siswa kelas VII yang masih rendah dan belum terasah dengan baik serta pembelajaran masih berpusat pada guru. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut peneliti mencari solusi alternatif dengan menggunakan model Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model BCCT terhadap peningkatan civic skills siswa pada mata pelajaran PPKn. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen dan desain penelitiannya Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasinya yaitu siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 5 Bandung dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling diperoleh kelas VII B (kelas eksperimen) dan VII I (kelas kontrol). Pengumpulan data dalam bentuk tes essay dan angket. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji-t. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan empat hal yaitu: (1) hasil tes awal civic skills siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol memiliki kondisi awal yang sama; (2) hasil tes akhir civic skills siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol, hal ini dikarenakan kelas eksperimen menggunakan model BCCT sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan metode konvensional; (3) persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan model BCCT direspon sangat positif dan baik; (4) terdapat perbedaan signifikan civic skills siswa antara kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model BCCT dengan kelas kontrol setelah diberikan perlakuan. Dengan demikian, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa model BCCT berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap peningkatan civic skills siswa pada mata pelajaran PPKn.;--- Civic skills is competency to be achieved by students on Civic Education. When students has low civic skills, then it can be concluded that the student not reached yet the learning objectives well. Research conducted based on earliest observation that discovered by researcher are problem of low civic skills of 7th Grade student and not refined well, learning process still focused on teacher learning center. Based on the background above, researcher seeking an alternative solution by using Beyond Centers and Circle Times (BCCT) Model. The research aims to knowing the influences of BCCT to increase students’ civic skills in Civic Education. The research uses quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods and research design is Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population are students of 7th Grade in SMP Negeri 5 Bandung taken with random sampling technique so that obtainable they are 7B (experiment class) and 7I (control class). Data collection by essay test and questionnaire. Data analyzed by descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, and T-test. Research findings indicate four things, are : (1) pre-test results of students’ civic skills in experimen and control class has same condition; (2) post-test result of students’ civic skills in experimen class are higher than control class, it’s because experimen class were using BCCT Model while control class used conventional model; (3) students’ perception of the implementation of the BCCT Model in Civic Education responded possitive and well; (4) there is significant differences of students’ civic skills between experimen class which used BCCT Model with control class after given by treatment. Therefore, researcher conclude that BCCT Model has possitive influence and significant to increase students’ civic skills in Civic Education.
