Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada siswa kelas XI IIS (Ilmu-Ilmu Sosial) di SMAN 6 Bandung, Di sekolah ini masih terdapat siswa yang memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis yang rendah. Hal ini ditandai dengan hasil pretest, dimana rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di bawah 50%. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan metode Problem Solving dan metode Group Investigation mempengaruhi tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis pada siswa, apakah kemampuan awal mempengaruhi tingkat berpikir kritis pada siswa, apakah terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara metode Problem Solving, metode Group Investigation dan kemampuan awal terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model eksperimen desain faktorial 3x3. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan metode mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir krtis pada siswa, demikian juga kemampuan awal siswa, sangat mempengaruhi tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis pada siswa. Interaksi antara kemampuan awal siswa dengan metode Problem Solving dan metode Group Investigation juga mempengaruhi tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada siswa, metode Group investigation akan jauh lebih baik jika diterapkan pada siswa yang telah memiliki kemampuan awal tinggi, dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki kemampuan awal rendah.;--- This research is motivated by the lack of critical thinking skills of students in class XI IIS (social sciences) at SMAN 6 Bandung. In this school, there are students with low critical thinking skill. It is indicated by the result of the pretest, which the average of students’ critical thinking skill are below 50%. The purpose of this research is to investigate whether the use of the Problem Solving Method and Group Investigation Method give affect to the level of student critical thinking skills, whether the student’s prior knowledge give affect to the level of student critical thinking skills, and whether the interaction of the student’s prior knowledge with the Problem Solving method and Group investigation method, give affect to the level of student critical thinking skills. This research using experimental model 3x3 factorial design. The result of this research shows that use of the learning method affect to the student critical thinking skill, as wells as, the student’s prior knowledge. It gives high affect to the student’s critical thinking skill. The interaction between the student’s prior knowledge with the Problem Solving method and Group Investigation method also affects the student's critical thinking skills. To enhance the student’s critical thinking skill, the Group Investigation would be much better if applied to students who have a high prior knowledge, compared to students with low prior knowledge.
