Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di sekolah menengah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis dan menemukan metode pembelajaran yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran ekonomi Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS di SMAN 1 Pariaman dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 2 (dua) kelas. Teknik analisis data: analisis deskriptif dan analisis data Independent Sample t – Test, yaitu: uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji hipotesis (uji t) dengan menggunakan program Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran pada kelas yang menggunakan metode Guided Inquiry Learning, (2) terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran pada kelas yang menggunakan metode Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan (3) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan metode Guided Inquiry Learning dengan kelas yang menggunakan metode Problem Based Learning serta metode Problem Based Learning lebih efektif jika dibandingkan dengan metode Guided Inquiry Learning.;---This research is motivated by the lack of critical thinking skills of students in secondary schools. The purpose of this study to analyze and to find effective methode to improve critical thinking skills of students on economics subjects in senior high schools. This research is a quasi-experimental. The study population was the students of classes XI IPS in SMAN 1 Pariaman with a sample size of 2 (two) classes. Technique of data analysis: descriptive analysis and data analysis Independent Sample t - Test, namely: normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test (t test) by using the program Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS). The results showed that (1) there are differences in critical thinking skills of students before and after the learning in the classes using Guided Inquiry Learning method, (2) there are differences in critical thinking skills of students before and after the learning in the classroom using the Problem Based Learning method and (3) there are differences in the increase in critical thinking skills of students between classes using Guided Inquiry Learning method with classes using Problem Based Learning method (PBL), and than problem Based Learning method is more effective than the Guided Inquiry Learning Method.
