Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa di SDN Skj I, Kota Bandung. Berdasarkan observasi di lapangan, banyak siswa yang memiliki keterampilan berbicara yang rendah, siswa tidak memiliki keberanian untuk manyampaikan komentar atau pendapatnya, dan pembelajaran didominasi oleh beberapa siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Untuk itu, peneliti menggunakan model cooperative learning tipe time token arends untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan desain Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dengan satu pertemuan pada setiap siklusnya. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas IV-D dengan jumlah siswa 25 orang, yang rata-rata berumur 9-10 tahun. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan teknik kualitatif yang diperoleh dari lembar observasi dan catatan lapangan, dan teknik kuantitatif untuk memperoleh data hasil belajar dan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Keterampilan berbicara pada setiap siklus mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini terbukti dari proses belajar siswa yang semakin baik dan rata-rata hasil keterampilan berbicara siswa meningkat setiap siklusnya. Rata-rata hasil keterampilan berbicara siswa di siklus I hanya 62,2 dan di siklus II meningkat menjadi 77. Penulis merekomendasikan untuk menggunakan model cooperative learning tipe time token arends sebagai solusi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Penggunaan kupon bicara dalam model ini dapat menghindari siswa yang mendominasi dan siswa yang diam sama sekali. ; Based on the field observation, it was found that students’ speaking proficiency in SDN Skj I Bandung were still low. Students’ did not have the courage to say their views and the course was dominated by several students. This research aims to improve students’ speaking proficiency. To achieve the aims of the research, the researcher employs cooperative learning model specifically the time token arends type. This research employs class action research designed by Kemmis and Taggart. This research was conducted in two cycles, one meeting in each cycle. The research was conducted in IV-D class which consists of 25 students, aged between 9-10 years old. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative method. The qualitative method was used to analyze the data which obtained from the observation sheets and field notes, meanwhile the quantitative method was used to analyze students’ learning results and students’ learning completion. This research found that students’ speaking proficiency in each cycle were improving. It can be seen from students’ learning activity and students’ average scores which was improving in each cycle. The average students’ speaking proficiency scores in cycle I was only 62,2 and in the cycle II was improving to 77. The researcher recommends cooperative learning model specifically the time token arends type as one of the solutions to improve students’ speaking proficiency. The use of speaking coupon in this model could make all students have the same amount of time to speak and minimalize the gap between students who are very dominant and students who are very passive.
