Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan berkomunikasi merupakan kebutuhan kompetensi yang penting dimiliki siswa sehingga perlu dilatihkan selama proses pembelajaran tak terkecuali dalam pelajaran fisika. Namun fisika seringkali dianggap sulit dan tidak disukai karena proses pembelajaran berlangsung monoton dan tidak menarik. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan strategi agar siswa dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritisnya dengan cara yang lebih menyenangkan, salah satunya dengan bantuan multimedia komputer. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan mengetahui profil keterampilan berkomunikasi siswa melalui pembelajaran berbasis multimedia komputer bernama MBI2. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Pre-Experiment dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sampel penelitian meliputi 35 siswa kelas IX di salah satu SMP negeri di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada setiap pertemuan dengan perolehan nilai gain yang dinormalisasi berkategori sedang. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa juga mengalami peningkatan pada masing-masing indikator yang diteliti, yaitu indikator mengidentifikasi kriteria untuk mempertimbangkan jawaban yang mungkin (<g>=0,49), mencari persamaan dan perbedaan (<g>=0,46), memberikan alasan (<g>=0,35), membuat hipotesis (<g>=0,26), dan memilih kriteria yang mungkin sebagai solusi permasalahan (<g>=0,37). Dengan demikian, penggunaan MBI2 dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Selain itu, diketahui juga profil keterampilan berkomunikasi tertulis siswa melalui jawaban lembar kegiatan dan keterampilan berkomunikasi lisan siswa melalui penampilan presentasi. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa siswa berada pada tingkat berkategori cukup untuk berkomunikasi tertulis dan hanya mencapai kategori kurang untuk berkomunikasi lisan.;--- Skills of critical thinking and communication are important competence needs that have to be possessed by students so that they have to be trained during learning process, without exception, in physics. However, physics is often considered difficult and disliked because the learning process takes place monotically and without attraction. Accordingly, strategies are needed so that students can develop their skills of critical thinking with more fun way, one of which is help from multimedia computer. The aims of this study are improving students’ skills of critical thinking and finding out their profil of communication skills through learning that is based multimedia computer named MBI2. The research method used is Pre-Experimental with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects of the study are 35 ninth grade students in a junior high school in Bandung. The result shows enhancement of students’ critical thinking skills at every meeting with grade acquisition of normalized gain in moderate catogery. Students’ critical thinking skills are also improved in each indicator that is analyzed, which is indicator of identifying criteria for judging possible answers that can be (<g>=0,49), seeing similarities and differences (<g>=0,46), ability to give reason (<g>=0,35), making the hypothesis (<g>=0,26), and selecting criteria to judge possible solution (<g>=0,37). Therefore, the use of MBI2 can improve students’ critical thinking skills. Furthermore, the students’ written communication skills profil is known due to the answer sheets and their spoken communication skills are known due to their presentation. From the result of the study, it is found that the students are in satisfactory category level in written communication and they reach less than satisfactory category in spoken communication.
