Abstract
Artikel ini melaporkan hasil penelitian yang berjudul “Fungsi Tari dalam Prosesi Mapag Panganten Karya Nyentrik Production di Kota Bandung”. Penelitian ini berkaitan dengan upacara adat pernikahan budaya Sunda. Permasalahan penelitian adalah: (1) Bagaimana struktur penyajian upacara mapag panganten?, (2) Apa fungsi tari yang terdapat pada upacara mapag panganten di Kota Bandung?. Tujuan penilitian ini adalah untuk memahami struktur penyajian tari dan fungsi tari pada prosesi upacara mapag panganten karya Nyentrik Production di Kota Bandung. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, studi dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Analisis yang digunakan yaitu, analisis penokohan/penari, gerak, rias busana, musik iringan, dan analisis fungsi. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa struktur penyajian tari dalam upacara mapag panganten diawali oleh kehadiran tokoh lengser dan ambu dengan gerak mincid dan improvisasi, lalu penari kelompok putri yang disebut pamayang dengan gerak keupat dan sawang, dilanjutkan kelompok penari pria yang disebut baksa, diakhiri dengan dua penari yang membawakan tokoh Rama dan Shinta. Gerak-gerak tari yang ditampilkan oleh penari merupakan tari kreasi namun bersumber dari tarian yang sudah ada seperti tari keurseus, tari sekar puteri, dan tarian lainnya. Kostum yang dikenakan para tokoh/penari menggunakan unsur tradisi, dikreasikan sesuai dengan kebutuhan konsep garap. Rias yang digunakan oleh para tokoh/penari hampir menggunakan rias corrective, dan rias usia. Pertunjukan yang terdapat pada prosesi mapag panganten memiliki fungsi sebagai presentasi estetis dengan bentuk penyajian tari kreasi. ; This writing reports the results of a research entitled "The Function of Dance in Mapag Panganten Procession by Nyentrik Production in Bandung.” This research deals with wedding ceremonies in Sundanese culture. The research problems are: (1) How is the structure the presentation ceremony Mapag Panganten formed?, (2) What is the function of the dance contained inside Mapag Panganten in Bandung? The purpose of this research is to understand the structure of the dance as well as and the function of the dance at the Mapag Penganten ceremonial procession by Nyentrik Production in Bandung. This qualitative research uses descriptive analysis method. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, document studies, and literary studies. The analysis used are the analysis of characterizations/dancer, motion, makeup and costume, musical accompaniment, as well as analysis of functions. The results of this research concluded that the structure of the presentation of dance in the ceremony Mapag Panganten is preceded by the presence of the character Lengser and Ambu using mincid motion and improvisation, followed by female dancers called pamayang with keupat motion and Sawang, then a group of male dancers called Baksa, and ended with two dancers playing the role of Rama and Shinta. Movements of dance performed by dancers are creative dances but derived from existing dance like Keurseus, Sekar Puteri dance, and other dances. The costumes worn by the characters/ dancers uses the elements of tradition, repackaged in accordance with the concept of the performance. The makeup used by the characters/dancers are similar to corrective makeup, and old age stage makeup. The performances in Mapag Panganten ceremony has an aesthetic function in the form of creative dance presentation.
