Abstract

Hampir Setiap cabang olahraga sangat memerlukan kekuatan karena kekuatan merupakan daya penggerak setiap aktivitas fisik. Selain itu kekuatan berperan penting dalam melindungi atlet dari cidera. Atlet yang mempunyai otot saja belum tentu akan berprestasi seperti yang dikatakan Harsono (1988, hlm. 199) ‘orang yang memiliki strength saja atau yang kuat ototnya, belum dengan sendirinya akan bisa berprestasi apabila orang itu tidak pula memiliki otot-otot yang cepat’, kekuatan dan kecepatan disebut juga power. Serta latihan yang sesuai untuk melatih kekuatan adalah latihan resistance, seperti yang dikatakan satriya dkk (2007, hlm. 61) ‘latihan yang sesuai untuk mengembangkan kekuatan, ialah melalui bentuk latihan tahanan (resistance exercise)’. Alasan adanya penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan power lengan khususnya pada cabang olahraga bola voli. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh latihan resistance terhadap peningkatan power lengan. Metode penelitian eksperimen ini dilakukan dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling, pada anggota ekstrakulikuler bola voli SMAN 1 Lembang dan memenuhi kriteria sebanyak 8 orang, yang dibagi menjadi 4 orang kelompok eksperimen dan 4 orang kelompok kontrol, dengan menggunakan metode A-B-B-A. Instrumen yang digunakan peneliti adalah tes two hand medicine ball put dengan menggunakan alat medicine ball seberat 3 kg. Hasil yang diperoleh dengan pendekatan statistika untuk kelompok ekeperimen yang diberi latihan resistance dengan menggunakan karet yaitu adanya peningkatan power lengan dengan rata-rata sebesar 3,90%, jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan resistance dengan karet berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap peningkatan power lengan pada atlet bola voli. ; Almost every branch of sport needs strength because strength is the activator of any physical activity. Besides, strength plays an important role in protecting athletes from injury. An athlete who only depends on his muscle can not be guaranteed to have a good performance, as what Harsono (1988, p. 199) says that “People who only have strength or strong muscle, they can not guarantee themselves to have a good performance if they do not have fast muscle”. Strength and speed are also called power. In addition, to make it better, they have to have an appropriate exercise to train strength is resistance training, as Satriya et al (2007, p. 61) say “An appropriate exercise to develop strength is by resistance exercise”. The reason of this research is to increase the arm power, especially in vollyball. While for the purpose itself is to determine the effect of resistance training to increase the arm power. This experimental research was done by using purposive sampling. The participants were eight members of volleyball club of SMAN 1 Lembang, which then were divided into four groups of experimental and four control groups used A-B-B-A method. The instrument was used by the researcher was two hand medicine ball put test put by using a medicine ball, its weight was 3 kgs. The result which was obtained by the statistical approach to the experimental group which was given resistance exercise by using rubber shows that there is an increase in arm power with the average 3,90%. Thus, it can be concluded that resistance exercise with rubber significantly affects the increase in arm power to the volleyball athlete.
