Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh profil model mental siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasilkali kelarutan dengan menggunakan tes diagnostik model mental tipe pilihan ganda multi tingkat (TDM-MT). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian dilakukan pada 52 siswa kelas XII MIA di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Tasikmalaya. Instrumen tes berjumlah delapan butir soal dengan menggunakan tiga level representasi, telah valid dan reliabel dengan derajat reliabilitas Cronbach’s Alpha 0,651. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, untuk konsep senyawa sukar larut didominasi oleh tipe 11 (tipe benar) yang berarti siswa memahami konsep berdasarkan interaksi partikel terlarut-terlarut, kelarutan sebagai sistem kesetimbangan, dan spesi dalam larutan jenuh senyawa sukar larut dalam tiga level representasi; untuk konsep hasilkali kelarutan dan hubungannya dengan kelarutan didominasi oleh tipe 00 (tipe salah) yang berarti siswa belum memahami pengertian Ksp dan penentuan kelarutan senyawa berdasarkan harga Ksp dalam tiga level representasi; untuk konsep pembentukan endapan senyawa sukar larut didominasi oleh tipe 00 (tipe salah) yang berarti siswa belum mampu memprediksi terbentuknya endapan suatu senyawa sukar larut berdasarkan perbandingan harga Qsp dan Ksp dalam tiga level representasi; untuk konsep perubahan kelarutan senyawa akibat ion senama didominasi oleh tipe 10 (tipe benar salah) yang berarti siswa belum memahami bahwa penambahan ion senama menyebabkan kelarutan senyawa berkurang dalam level submikroskopik; dan untuk konsep perubahan kelarutan senyawa akibat perubahan pH didominasi tipe 00 (tipe salah) yang berarti siswa belum memahami bahwa penambahan asam menyebabkan kelarutan senyawa bertambah dalam tiga level representasi. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasilkali kelarutan masih rendah pada level makroskopik, submikroskopik, dan simbolik.;---The purpose of this research is to gain the students’ mental model of solubility and solubility product by using multi-tier multiple choice diagnostic test (TDM-MT). This research is using qualitative method with descriptive analysis. This research is conducted at one of high school in Tasikmalaya with 52 students of grade XII MIA as subjects. The multi-tier multiple choice diagnostic test consists of eight questions which able to examine students’ understanding in each questions by applying three representations level, such as macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic. This instrument have already been valid and reliable with 0,651 in Cronbach’s Alpha reliability degree. The results show that the concept of slightly soluble compound is dominated by type 11 (true answer, true reason), which mean students have fully understood in three representations level according to solute—solute interaction, solubility as an equilibria system, and species in saturated solution; the concept of solubility product and its correlation with solubility is dominated by type 00 (false answer, false reason), which mean students have not fully understood Ksp definition and solubility measurement according to Ksp value in three representations level; the concept of precipitation formation of slightly soluble compound is dominated by type 00 (false answer, false reason), which mean students have not been able to predict precipitation formation of slightly soluble compound by comparing ion-product constant (Qsp) and Ksp in three representations level; the concept of common-ion effect on solubility concept is dominated by type 10 (true answer, wrong reason), which mean students have not understood in submicroscopic level that common-ion addition caused solubility decrease; and the concept of pH effect on solubility is dominated by type 00 (false answer, false reason), which mean students have not fully understood in three representations level that pH decrease by adding some acid caused solubility increase. This result indicates that students have low understanding in three representations level of solubility and solubility product matter.
