Abstract

Permainan merupakan alat bagi anak-anak untuk menjelajahi dunianya, dari yang tidak dikenali sampai yang diketahui, dan dari yang tidak dapat dibuat sampai mampu membuatnya. Bermain bagi anak memiliki nilai dan ciri yang penting bagi perkembangan kehidupan sehari-hari. Dari sekian banyak jenis mainan dan permainan modern terdapat jenis mainan dan permainan tradisional yang memiliki nilai dan mengandung unsur-unsur pendidikan di dalamnya. Konteks masalah penelitian ini yaitu pengembangan karakter warga negara melalui permainan tradisional, dengan fokus kajian perihal nilai-nilai karakter yang dikembangkan melalui permainan tradisional di Komunitas Hong. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa (1) nilai karakter yang dikembangkan melalui permainan tradisional pada dasarnya berupa nilai-nilai kebaikan seperti kejujuran, kedisiplinan, kepatuhan, keindahan, kebersamaan, toleransi, tenggang rasa, tanggung jawab, kepemimpinan, kesadaran, kearifan, kekuatan fisik, sportifitas, dan lain sebagainya. Proses pengembangan nilai karakter berpijak pada aspek mengenal alam, mengenal lingkungan, dan mengenal Tuhan, dilakukan dengan upaya memperkenalkan, memahami, dan mengajarkan melalui cara pembiasaan dan keteladanan, (2) faktor penghambat dalam upaya mengembangkan karakter melalui permainan tradisional adalah adanya kesenjangan sistem antara pendidikan formal, informal, dan non formal. Dalam wilayah pendidikan formal terlalu berat pada sisi kognitif, sementara sisi yang lain (afektif dan psikomotorik) kurang mendapat porsi yang layak. Demikian pula halnya di kedua wilayah lainnya sistem ini pun tidak berimbang. Pendidikan idealnya memiliki keterpaduan (sinerji) antara pendidikan formal, informal dan non formal, (3) Upaya pengembangan nilai karakter dilakukan dengan strategi pendidikan nilai yakni lebih mengaktifkan ranah afektif, membina perilaku positif secara berulang-ulang, dan upaya transfer nilai dengan cara yang pasti, kontinyu, pelan-pelan, sedikit demi sedikit, dalam nuansa kebersamaan dan kekeluargaan.;---Games are a tool for children to explore their world, from which was not recognized until the unknown, and of which can not be made until able to make it. Playing for children to have the values and characteristics that are important for the development of everyday life. Of the many kinds of toys and modern games are kind of traditional toys and games that have value and contains elements of education in it. The context of this research problem is the character development of the citizens through traditional game, the focus of the study concerning the character values developed through traditional games in Hong Community. The approach used is qualitative case study method. The results showed that (1) the character values developed through traditional game is basically good values such as honesty, discipline, obedience, beauty, unity, tolerance, compassion, responsibility, leadership, awareness, wisdom, physical strength, sportsmanship , and so forth. The process of developing the character value rests on aspects know nature, know the neighborhood, and know God, to do with an attempt to introduce, understand and teach the way through habituation and models, (2) inhibiting factors in the effort to develop the character through traditional games is their system gaps between education formal, informal and non-formal. In the area of formal education too heavily on the cognitive side, while the other side (affective and psychomotor) less get a decent portion. Similarly, in the other two regions this system was not impartial. Education should ideally have cohesion (synergy) between formal, informal and non-formal, (3) Efforts to develop the character value is done by education strategies values that enable more affective domain, fostering positive behavior repeatedly, and efforts to transfer the value in a certain way , continuous, slowly, bit by bit, in shades of togetherness and family.
