Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena rendahnya tingkat minat baca dan kebiasaan anak untuk membaca. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui: 1) kontribusi program sajaba terhadap peningkatan minat baca siswa; 2) gambaran hasil pelaksanaan program sajaba; 3) gambaran minat baca siswa; 4) kontribusi kegiatan membaca, 5) mereviu, dan 6) menceritakan kembali isi buku terhadap peningkatan minat baca siswa SMP Negeri 1 Cicalengka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa SMP Negeri 1 Cicalengka dengan sampel sebanyak 94 orang yang dihitung menggunakan rumus Slovin dan teknik sampling Proportionate stratified random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket tertutup dengan skala likert. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dengan uji korelasi Pearson product moment dan koefisien determinasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui: 1) program sajaba memberikan kontribusi sebesar 60,84% terhadap peningkatan minat baca siswa; 2) gambaran hasil pelaksanaan program sajaba tergolong dalam kategori baik; 3) gambaran minat baca siswa tergolong dalam kategori baik; kegiatan 4) membaca buku memberikan kontribusi sebesar 48,44%; 5) mereviu buku memberikan kontribusi sebesar 35,76%; 6) menceritakan kembali isi buku memberikan kontribusi sebesar 37,21% terhadap peningkatan minat baca siswa. Dapat disimpulkan program sajaba berkontribusi kuat terhadap peningkatan minat baca siswa SMP Negeri 1 Cicalengka. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian ini yaitu guru diharapkan dapat melakukan kegiatan sajaba bersama dengan siswa selama kegiatan itu berlangsung di kelas, baik kegiatan membaca ataupun kegiatan mereviu buku, agar siswa merasa lebih termotivasi dalam melakukan kegiatan tersebut.;---Background of this research is the phenomena that shows us about the lack of reading interest and reading habbit of students. This research aims to 1) determine the contribution of SAJABA Program to increasing reading interest of SMPN 1 Cicalengka students, 2) determine result description of sajaba program implementation, 3) determine description of students' reading interest, 4) determine contribution of reading activity, 5) books reviewing, and 6) books retelling. This research is done by using quantitative approach with descriptive method. The research population is all of students of SMPN 1 Cicalengka. Meanwhile, the samples are 94 students measured by Proportionate stratified random sampling technique with Slovin formula. Closed quissionaire with Likert scale is chosen as data collecting technique. Descriptive analyizing with Pearson product moment and coefficient of determination are chosen as data analyizing technique. The result shows that 1) SAJABA Program has contribution of 60,84% to increasing students’ reading interest, 2) result description of sajaba program implementation is categorized as a “good” category, 3) description of students reading interest is categorized as a "good” category, 4) reading activity gives contribution of 48,44%, 4) book reviewing gives contribution of 35,76%, 5) books retelling gives contribution of 37,21% to increasing students’ reading interest. As a conclusion, SAJABA Program has strong contribution to increasing students' reading interest. Recomendation to the research is hopefully, teachers can accompany their students when implementing sajaba program, both of reading activity or book reviewing, so that students can be more motivated to doing those activities.
