Abstract

Salah satu tujuan pendidikan di Sekolah Menengah Atas adalah menyiapkan sumber daya manusia yang dapat bersaing di dunia kerja. Sedangkan dunia kerja sekarang sudah semakin canggih dalam hal teknologi. Oleh karena itu, pendidikan pun harus mengikuti tuntuan yang ada. Kurikulum 2013 memiliki tujuan untuk mempersiapkan manusia Indonesia agar memiliki kemampuan hidup yang mampu berkontribusi pada peradaban dunia. Hal ini serupa dengan tujuan pendidikan STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Peneliti menerapkan pendidikan STEM ini dengan mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis STEM. Peneliti membandingkan bahan ajar berbasis STEM dengan bahan ajar biasa yang digunakan oleh sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Design/ R&D) serta dalam uji coba akhir produk menggunakan 2 kelas, kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini adalah produk akhir modul hukum II Newton berbasis STEM; adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan modul berbasis STEM (z hitung sebesar 10,26); peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa kelas eksperimen termasuk sedang (analisis gain sebesar 0,4); ditemukannya respon positif terhadap modul dengan rata-rata 3,2 (skala Likert). ;--- One of the education purpose in high school is to prepare learners becoming human resources who be able to survive in the real-world or the workforce. Meanwhile workforce grows as improving technology. Because of that, the education has to develop to follow the improved technology. Curricula of 2013 intend to prepare learners so the learners have the skill for contributing world civilization, the same education purpose of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The researcher applied the STEM of education with creating STEM based teaching materials. Researcher compared the STEM based teaching material with the non STEM based teaching materials were apply in that schools. This research used research and development method, then testing the final product, two classes, control and experiment were used. The result of this research was the final product of STEM based Newton’s second law modules; significant difference between the control and the experimental group whom applied STEM based module (10,26 in z calculated); increasing the concept mastery of students in experimental class wich in medium range (analysis of a gain is 0,4); the discovery of positive response to module with an average of 3,2 (Likert scale);.
