Abstract
Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur teks, konteks penuturan, pola pewarisan, dan fungsi mantra bercocok tanam padi pada masyarakat Kecamatan Pangalengan Kabupaten Bandung. Adapun hasil kajiannya dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan penulisan buku pengayaan pengetahuan. Teori yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data penelitian ialah teori yang berkenaan dengan ilmu tradisi lisan, ilmu sastra, dan sintaksis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dan etnografi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi partisipatoris dan wawancara. Teks mantra yang berhasil dihimpun terdiri atas bahasa Sunda, bahasa Jawa, dan bahasa Arab. Teks dianalisis berdasarkan pengisi fungsi sintaksis yang menyatakan satu gagasan utama. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa teks mantra bercocok tanam padi mengandung konsep keselarasan hidup antara manusia dan alam. Konteks penuturan mantra terkait dengan syarat-syarat dan tata cara pelaksanaan mitembeyan. Suasana di sekitar penuturan mantra dituntut hening. Mantra diwariskan secara vertikal. Sejak awal, mantra bercocok tanam padi tidak mengalami proses penciptaan baru. Fungsi mantra bercocok tanam padi bagi masyarakat penuturnya ialah sebagai alat pendidikan, sebagai alat pengesah kebudayaan, dan sebagai sistem proyeksi masyarakat penuturnya.;---This study aims to describe the text structure, the narrative context, the inheritance process, and the function of the spell of rice cultivation of the society of Pangalengan Sub-district, Bandung Regency. As for the results, it can be utilized for writing materials for knowledge enrichment book. The theory used to analize the data is the theory related to the science of oral tradition, literature, and syntax. The research used qualitative method and ethnography. To collect the data, the writer used participatory observation and interview. The spells that had been collected consist of Sundanese, Javanese, and Arabic language. The text is analyzed based on syntax function filler that states the main idea. The result shows that the spell of rice cultivation has the concept of life harmony between human and nature. The narrative context of the spell is related to the conditions and the procedures of mitembeyan. The condition when the spell is outspoken should be quiet. The spell is inherited vertically. Since the beginning, the spell of rice cultivation has not met the new creation. The functions of the spell of rice cultivation for the speaker are as education tools, culture verifier tools, and the speakers’ projection system.
