Abstract

Tipe siswa berbeda-beda, oleh karenanya pembelajaran yang hanya mendukung kemampuan salah satu jenis siswa akan cenderung mengabaikan siswa dengan tipe lainnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil dari pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan kooperatif terhadap prestasi siswa berdasarkan gaya belajar (VARK Learning Style) dalam mempelajari materi optik di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Team Assisted Individualized (TAI) dipilih sebagai model pembelajaran kooperatif dalam penelitian ini dengan pertimbangan TAI dikembangkan berdasarkan pemikiran bahwa karakteristik siswa berbeda-beda. Analisis dari penelitian ini lebih difokuskan kepada karakteristik konsep materi optik dan pemahaman konsep dalam belajar materi optik berdasarkan masing-masing gaya belajar. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah satu kelas yang berasal dari sekolah negeri di Kabupaten Bandung. Data Kuantitatif dalam penelitian ini didapatkan melalui tes objektif (pretest-posttest) yang berdasarkan Taksonomi Bloom. Data yang didapatkan dianalisis berdasarkan masing-masing sub konsep materi optik dan masing masing gaya belajar. Pemrosesan data dilakukan menggunakan Anatest 4.1.0 dan Microsoft Excel 2016. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa dari C1 sampai C3. Peningkatan tertinggi diraih oleh gaya belajar Visual (V) (rata-rata gain = 0,69) dengan nilai n-gain sub konsep <g> 1,00 dalam mempelajari sub konsep “bayangan yang dihasilkan dari pemantulan dan pembiasan cahaya” dan Kinestetik (K) (rata-rata gain = 0,62) dengan nilai n-gain sub konsep <g> 0,95 dalam mempelajari sub konsep “bayangan yang dihasilkan lensa dan sifat-sifatnya”. Dari rata-rata gain yang dihasilkan keduanya tergolong memperoleh peningkatan dengan kategori sedang. Faktor lain yang mempengaruhi hasil diatas adalah karakteristik masing-masing sub konsep tiap aktifitas pembelajaran. TAI sebagai model pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini mampu mendukung semua gaya belajar melalui sintaks yang dimilikinya, tapi dalam mempelajari materi optik, pembelajaran yang dilakukan lebih banyak dilakukan menggunakan alat bantu visual dan eksperimen, oleh karena itu, Visual dan Kinestetik muncul sebagai gaya belajar dengan nilai gain yang paling tinggi dalam mempelajari materi optik ini dibandingkan dengan gaya belajar lainnya. Dari hasil penelitian ini, pertimbangan akan karakteristik konsep dan tipe siswa akan mempengaruhi prestasi siswa, maka dari itu akan lebih baik untuk menganalisa karakteristik siswa sebelum memulai pembelajaran agar guru dapat menyusun kegiatan pembelajaran lebih baik lagi.;---Students are heterogeneous, thus an instruction at a single pace is bound to leave some students behind. This research goal is to investigate the different effect of cooperative learning approach toward students’ achievement in learning optics in junior high school based on their learning style (VARK Learning Style). Team Assisted Individualized (TAI) was chosen as the learning model in this research by the consideration that TAI was developed based on thought that students were heterogeneous. The analysis of this research focused on characteristic of optic concept and students’ conceptual understanding in learning optic based on their learning style. The method used in this research was experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. One class taken as sample in this research, the sample comes from one public school in Bandung Regency. The quantitative data of this research was gained through objective test (pretest-posttest) based on Blooms Taxonomy. Then the data was analyzed based on each optic sub concept and each learning style. Data processing was done by Anatest 4.1.0 and Microsoft Excel 2016. The result of this research shows that there is different improvement of student conceptual understanding from C1 until C3. The highest improvement was taken by Visual (V) (average gain = 0,69) with the highest sub concept normalized gain <g> 1,00 in learning “images formed by reflection and refraction”, and Kinesthetic (K) (average gain = 0,62) with the highest sub concept normalized gain <g> 0,95 in learning “images formed by lenses and its characteristic”. Both of average gain was included as medium improvement. The other factor that affecting the results are the characteristic of concept and learning activity. Team Assisted Individualized as the learning method are able to support all of the learning style preferences in its steps, but in learning optic, the learning activity are mostly done by visual aid and experiment, thus visual and kinesthetic was raise as the learning style with the highest gain value in learning optics than the other learning style. From this research, considering concept and students’ learning style would affect students’ achievement, thus it would be better to analyze students’ learning style before start the lesson in order to arrange the learning activity better.
