Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pengembangan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berpikir kreatif matematis dan self-confidence siswa yang belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, berpikir kreatif matematis dan self-confidence siswa yang belajar melalui problem-based learning dengan siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan saintifik baik secara keseluruhan maupun ditinjau dari kategori KAM (kemampuan awal matematis). Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Kelompok Kontrol Non-Ekivalen yang merupakan bagian dari bentuk Kuasi Eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas X Program Keahlian Administrasi Perkantoran pada salah satu SMK di Kota Bandung dengan sampel dua kelas. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dan angket self-confidence. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa untuk kedua kelas eksperimen; (2) tidak terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa untuk kedua kelas eksperimen; (3) tidak terdapat perbedaan self-confidence siswa untuk kedua kelas eksperimen. Aktivitas siswa secara keseluruhan pada kelas problem-based learning dengan pendekatan saintifik maupun kelas pendekatan saintifik sudah sangat baik.;---The background of the research is the students’ low ability in the problem solving skill and mathematical creative thinking skill as well as their low level of self-confidence. This research aims to find out the significant difference between student’s achievement and improvement of students’ problem solving skill and mathematical creative thinking skill using problem based learning and scientific approach. This research is a quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group. The population of the research was the first year students majoring in Office Administration in one of Vocational School in Bandung. There were two classes taken as sample. The instruments used in this research were problem solving test, mathematical creative thinking test and self-confidence questionnaire. The findings reveal that (1) there was significant difference in the improvement of the students’ problem solving skill and creative thinking for between both experimental classes, (2) there was no significant difference in the achievement of the students’ problem solving skill and creative thinking between both experimental classes, (3) there was no significant difference in student’s level of self-confidence between both experimental classes. The students’ activities in both problem based learning and scientific approach classes were well organized.
