Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih belum adanya kesesuaian antara ketersediaan koleksi pada perpustakaan dengan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa Program Studi Perpustakaan dan Informasi. Dapat dilihat dari semakin bertambahnya kebutuhan informasi khususnya bagi para mahasiswa yang kegiatan sehari-harinya adalah belajar dan menambah wawasan ilmu pengetahuan bahwa ratio antara tersedianya koleksi dengan pemustaka masih belum memadai. Penelitian ini menjawab permasalahan penelitian yang dirumuskan dalam suatu rumusan masalah, yaitu “Bagaimana kontribusi ketersediaan koleksi terhadap kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa Program Studi Perpustakaan dan Informasi?”. Secara khusus permasalahan dalam penelitian ini yaitu: 1) Relevansi Koleksi; 2) Kelengkapan Koleksi; 3) Kemutakhiran Koleksi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kontribusi ketersediaan koleksi terhadap kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa Program Studi Perpustakaan dan Informasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Perpustakaan Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dan sampel penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa program studi Perpustakaan dan Informasi. Sampel yang digunakan adalah sebanyak 66 orang dengan teknik simple random sampling, dengan rumus Slovin. Secara umum hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kontribusi ketersediaan koleksi terhadap kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa Program Studi Perpustakaan dan Informasi memiliki kontribusi yang tinggi dan signifikan. Secara khusus relevansi koleksi, kelengkapan koleksi dan kemutakhiran koleksi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa dapat dikategorikan tinggi. ;---This research was conducted for the reason of the persistence of the mismatch between the availability of the collection in the library and Library and Information students’ needs for science information. It can be seen from the increasing needs for information, especially for students whose daily activities are learning and broaden their knowledge while the ratio between the availability of the collection and user has still been inadequate. This study answered the problem of research formulated "How to contribute to the availability of the collection of information needs students of Library and Information Studies? ". In particular problem in this research are: 1) Relevance Collection; 2) Completeness of Collection; 3) Recency Collection. The purpose of this research was to determine the contribution of the availability of the collection of the information needs of students of Library and Information Science. This research was conducted in the Library of Indonesia University of Education (UPI). The research method used was descriptive method with quantitative approach. Population and samples of the study were all students of Library and Information Science. The samples used were 66 people with simple random sampling technique, with Slovin formula. In general, the results show that the contribution of the availability of the collection of the information needs of students of Library and Information Studies have high and significant contributions. In particular the relevance of the collection, the collection completeness and recency of information collection in meeting the needs of students can be categorized as high.
