Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa pada pembelajaran IPS. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut peneliti melakukan sebuah penelitian dengan menerapkan sebuah model dalam pembelajaran yaitu model pembelajaran simulasi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran simulasi terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa dalam IPS. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen kuasi nonequivalent (pre-test and posttest) control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di SD Negeri 1 Cijurey Kabupaten Sukabumi dengan subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas IVA sebagai kelas kontrol dan siswa kelas IVB sebagai kelas eksperimen. Adapun alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan dalam bentuk uraian mengacu kepada indikator masing-masing variabel yang telah ditetapkan. Teknik pegumpulan datanya adalah dengan melakukan pretes untuk mengetahui kemampuan awal siswa dan postes untuk mengetahui kemampuan akhir siswa setelah mendapatkan tindakan berupa model pembelajaran simulasi di kelas eksperimen dan model konvensional di kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model simulasi secara signifikan lebih baik dari siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model konvensional. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran simulasi berpengaruh positif terhadap pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa. Oleh karena itu model pembelajaran simulasi dapat menjadi alternatif bagi guru untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran IPS, khususnya dalam upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan pengambilan keputusan siswa.;---This study is based on the lack of understanding the concept and decision-making skills in social studies. To answer these problems, researchers conducted a study by implementing a model of teaching and learning which is simulation model. This study is aimed to know the influence of the implementation of simulation model to student’s understanding the concept abilities and decision-making skills in social studies. The method of this study is quantitative method by using quasi experimental nonequivalent (pre-test and posttest) control group design. This study was conducted in SD Negeri 1 Cijurey Kabupaten Sukabumi with research sample are the students of IVA class as experimental group and IVB class as control group. The data collection tool used in this study is test of understanding the concept and decision making skills in the form of description, referring to each variable indicator has been set. The technique of collecting data is pre-test to determine the beginning student’s abilities and post-test to determine the final student’s abilities after the action was taken in the form of a simulation model in the experimental group and conventional models in the control group.The result of this study show that the achievement of understanding the concept ability and decision making skills who had got learning with simulation model is significantly better than students who had got learning with conventional model. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the simulation model is influenced to student’s understanding the concept abilities and decision-making skills. Therefor the simulation model of teaching and learning can be used as alternative model in social studies, particularly to improve understanding the concept and decision-making skills.
