Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh beberapa permasalahan yang ditemukan peneliti pada saat observasi di kelas VII F SMP Pasundan 4 Bandung. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, peneliti menemukan permasalahan berupa rendahnya kepedulian peserta didik terhadap masalah sosial kontemporer dalam pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan beberapa indikator permasalahan diantaranya sikap siswa yang kurang memiliki rasa simpati terhadap masalah sosial kontemporer yang ditunjukkan dengan sikap yang tidak merasakan apa yang terjadi, sikap siswa kurang menunjukan rasa empati terhadap masalah sosial kontemporer yang ditunjukkan dengan sikap yang tidak memiliki kemauan untuk membantu sesuai dengan kemampuan siswa, dan siswa terlihat kurang menghargai lebih fokus terhadap diri sendiri yang ditunjukkan dengan sikap siswa yang memilih teman kelompok berdasarkan kedekatan grup tertentu. Dengan demikian jika kelompok dibentuk bukan berdasarkan minat siswa maka siswa tidak dapat bekerja sama dengan baik. Alternatif pemecahan masalah yang menjadi pilihan peneliti, yaitu dengan menerapkan storytelling media boneka tangan, dimana siswa bercerita untuk menumbuhkan kepedulian siswa dengan cara bercerita mengenai masalah sosial kontemporer. Permasalahan yang akan diteliti berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran, maka peneliti memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis Mc.Taggart yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Peningkatan kepedulian sosial peserta didik di kelas VII F SMP Pasundan 4 Bandung melalui storytelling media boneka tangan dapat dikatakan berhasil. Berhasilnya penelitiian ini dapat dilihat dari adanya peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas storytelling media boneka tangan peserta didik yang ditunjukkan melalui perkembangan pencapaian kepedulian yaitu sikap siswa yang mampu merasakan apa yang terjadi, sikap siswa yang mampu memiliki kemauan untuk membantu sesuai dengan kemampuan siswa, siswa mampu menerima orang lain sebagai anggota kelompok, siswa mampu bekerja sama dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di lapangan dapat dikatakan bahwa terjadinya peningkatan kepedulian peserta didik melalui storytelling media boneka tangan dalam pembelajaran IPS ;---This research is motivated by several problems found researchers at the time of observation. Early in class VII F 4 junior Pasundan Bandung. Based on observations, researchers found the problem in the form of low concern learners to contemporary social problems in learning IPS. This is shown by some indicators of problems including the attitude of students who lack a sense of sympathy for the social problems of contemporary indicated in a manner that does not feel what happened, the student's attitude is less show a sense of empathy with the social problems of contemporary indicated with an attitude that does not have the will to help according to the ability of students, and students were less appreciated more focused on ourselves as indicated by the attitude of students who choose friends groups based on the proximity of a particular group. Thus, if a group was formed not based on the interests of students, the students can not work well together. Alternative solutions are the choice of researchers, namely by applying a hand puppet storytelling media, where students are told to raise awareness of students with storytelling about contemporary social issues. Issues that will be examined with regard to the learning process, the researchers chose a Class Action Research (PTK) with a model Kemmis Mc.Taggart carried out in three cycles. Increased social awareness of learners in class VII F 4 junior Pasundan Bandung through a hand puppet storytelling media can be said to be successful. The success penelitiian can be seen from the improvement of the quality and quantity of storytelling media puppet learners demonstrated through the development of achievement concerns the attitude of the students were able to feel what is happening, the attitude of the students are able to have a willingness to help according to student ability, students are able to receive people others as members of a group, the students are able to work together well. Based on the results of research in the field can be said that the increased awareness of learners through a hand puppet storytelling media in social studies learning
