Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah rendahnya aktivitas pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dan kemampuan menulis pantun siswa kelas IV di SDN Skj I, Kota Bandung. Berdasarkan observasi di lapangan, sebagian siswa tidak kondusif ketika pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dan siswa belum mampu menulis pantun. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan kemampuan menulis pantun siswa. Untuk itu, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan whole language untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan kemampuan menulis pantun siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas IV dengan jumlah siswa 25 orang, terdiri dari 13 orang perempuan dan 14 orang laki-laki. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan teknik kualitatif yang diperoleh dari lembar observasi dan catatan lapangan, dan teknik kuantitatif untuk memperoleh data hasil belajar dan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa melalui penerapan pendekatan whole language meningkatkan aktivitas dan kemampuan menulis pantun. Hal tersebut dari peningkatan presentase aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa pada setiap siklusnya. Siklus I menunjukan bahwa presentase aktivitas siswa 60.6 % dan siswa yang tuntas dalam menulis pantun sebanyak 68%. Siklus II menunjukan bahwa presentase aktivitas 85.3% dan siswa yang tuntas dalam menulis pantun sebanyak 96%. Peneliti merekomendasikan untuk menggunakan pendekatan whole language sebagai solusi dalam meningkatkan aktivitas dan kemampuan menulis pantun siswa;---The background of this research is the lack of activity in learning Indonesian language and ability to write pantun of fourth grade students at SDN Skj I, Bandung. Based on observations in the field, most students are not conducive when learning Indonesian and students have not been able to write a poem. The purpose of this research is to improve the activity and students' ability to write pantun. Therefore, researcher used whole language approach to improve the activity and students' ability to write pantun. The method used is classroom action research with Kemmis and Taggart design. The study was conducted in the fourth grade with the number of students are 25, consisting of 13 female and 14 male. Data processing is conducted by qualitative techniques derived from observation sheet and field notes, and quantitative techniques to obtain data on learning outcomes and student learning completeness. The results showed that through the implementation of whole language approach the activity and the ability to write pantun increases. It is based on the increased percentage of the activity and student learning outcomes in each cycle. The first cycle shows that the percentage of students’ activity is 60.6% and the students who completed writing pantun is as much as 68%. Cycle II shows that the percentage of students’ activity is 85.3% and the activity of students who completed writing pantun is 96%. The researcher recommends whole language approach as a solution to improve the activity and students' ability to write pantun.
