Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami isi bacaan yang diberikan oleh guru khusunya dalam pelajaran bahasa Indonesia dan penggunaan strategi pembelajaran yang masih konvensional. Hal ini ditunjukan berdasarkan data awal ketuntasan belajar siswa sebesar 34,5% yang mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimum (65). Penelitian ini difokuskan pada upaya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa melalui strategi PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perencanaan dalam penerapan strategi PQ4R dalam proses pembelajaran, untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan pembelajaran membaca pemahaman dengan menerapkan strategi PQ4R, dan mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan menerapan strategi PQ4R. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus, dan tiap-tiap siklus terdiri atas tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi, tes, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ketercapaian aktivitas guru pada setiap siklus semakin meningkat. Sementara itu, ketuntasan belajar klasikal hasil membaca pemahaman siswa juga mengalami peningkatan persentase sebesar 45% siklus I menjadi 100% pada siklus II, jadi meningkat sekitar 55% dari siklus I ke siklus II. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan startegi PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV B. ;---This research is motivated by method the students in low ability understanding the content of the reading given by the teacher especially in the Indonesian language teaching and learning strategies that still used conventionaly. Method it is proved by the presence of students who received grades that do not meet the minimum completeness criteria (65) the precentase is 34,5%. The research is focused on improving the students' reading comprehension through of PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) strategies. The purpose of this study was to determine the planning of PQ4R strategies in the learning process, to examine the implementation of learning in reading comprehension by applying PQ4R strategies, and find out the increase of reading comprehension by implementation PQ4R strategy. This study used the design of classroom action research (CAR) conducted by two cycles, and each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, testing, documentation, and interview. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data. The results of the research achievement of the activities of teachers, at each cycle were increasing. Meanwhile, the results of classical learning completeness students' reading comprehension also increased from the 45% in the first cycle to 100% in the second cycle, so an increase of approximately 55% from the first to the second cycle. It can be concluded that the implementation of the strategy PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) can improve reading comprehension skills of the fourth grade students.
