Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keaktifan belajar siswa kelas V SD pada pembelajaran IPS, salah satu penyebabnya adalah kurangnya ketersediaan alat peraga, pembelajaran hanya dilakukan dengan satu arah dan monoton. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan dan keaktifan belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS dengan menerapkan metode demonstrasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang diadaptasi dari model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang terdiri dari tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek yang diteliti adalah 29 siswa kelas V SDN X Kota Bandung. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi guru dan siswa, dan lembar observasi siswa. Dengan menerapkan metode demonstrasi, keaktifan belajar siswa menjadi meningkat. Rata-rata pada siklus I sebesar 53% meningkat di siklus II menjadi sebesar 82%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu dengan menerapkan metode demonstrasi dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS di kelas V SDN X Kota Bandung. --- This research is motivated by the low of students’ learning activeness in grade IV of Elementary School in learning social science, one of the reason is the lack of availability of teaching aids, learning process is only done in one direction (teacher center - lecturing) and monotonous. This study aimed to investigate the implementation and activeness of students in social science subject by applying the demonstration method. This research was a Class Action Research that is adapted from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model which consist of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Subjects in the study were 29 students of grade V in Elementary School of X, Bandung. The instruments used in this research were observation sheet for teacher, and observation sheet for student. By implementing demonstration method, the students’ learning activeness has increased. The average in cycle I in the number of 53% has increased in the cycle II into 82%. The conclusion of this study was by implementing the method of demonstration; it can improve students' learning activeness in learning social science of grade V in Elementary School of X, Bandung.
