Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan ditemukannya permasalahan yang terjadi di kelas VII-A yaitu rendahnya partisipasi siswa selama proses pembelajaran IPS berlangsung, hal ini terlihat selama pembelajaran berlangsung hanya terdapat satu atau dua siswa yang mengeluarkan pendapat, menanggapi pendapat teman, bertanya serta menjawab pertanyaan guru. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, maka penulis menerapkan teknik probing prompting untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang dilakukan sebanyak III siklus, karena pada siklus ketiga peneliti menganggap tujuan penelitian yang diharapkan telah tercapai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Perencanaan pembelajaran yang dilakukan dengan menerapkan teknik probing prompting dapat berjalan dengan baik terlihat adanya pengaruh terhadap kualitas belajar siswa. (2) Pelaksanaan dari penerapan teknik probing prompting dalam proses pembelajaran IPS telah mampu meningkatkan partisipasi siswa di kelas VII-A SMPN 16 Bandung, hal ini membuktikan adanya pengaruh antara proses pengajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru dengan partisipasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. (3) Untuk kegiatan refleksi dilakukan secara berkelanjutan, setelah dilaksanakannya proses pembelajaran di kelas melalui penerapan teknik probing prompting. Dimana melalui penerapan teknik probing prompting mampu meningkatkan partisipasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil peningkatan partisipasi siswa dalam setiap siklusnya. Adapun pada siklus Ipeningkatan partisipasi siswa sekitar 53,55% yang termasuk kategori cukup, pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 77,93% yang termasuk kategori baik, pada siklus III naik menjadi 88,89% yang tetap pada kategori baik. Oleh karena itu, penerapan teknik probing prompting dapat meningkatkan partisipasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran IPS.; The background of this research is a problem that occurred in VII-A class which was students’ low participation while learning Social Science in school was on going, there were only one or two students who declared their opinion, responded to their friends’ opinion, andasked and answered a question. In order to solve this problem, the researcher implemented Probing Prompting technique to increase students’ participation.This research used Action Research as the method with qualitative and quantitative approach which was done only in three phases, because the researcher found that the objective of the research had been accomplished at the third phase. The results show that (1) The planning of Probing Prompting technique can be implemented well, proved by the quality of their learning process which was increasing. (2) The implementation of Probing Prompting technique in Social Science Classroom has been able to increase students’ participation, proving that there is an effect between the teaching process performed by the teacher with students’ participation in the learning process. (3) To reflect the activities carried out in a sustainable manner, after the implementation of the learning process in the classroom through the implementation of Probing Prompting technique, this technique is able toincrease student’s participation in Social Science learning process. It can be proved by seeing the development of students’ participation in each meeting. The increased of students’ participation was around 53,55% in the first phase which is categorized as fair, then it increased to 77,93% in the second phase, which is categorized as good, then finally it increased again to 88,89% in the third phase,which is still categorized as good. Therefore, the implementation of Probing Prompting technique can increase students’ participation in learning Social Science.
