Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas Upacara Adat Ngalaksa di Kecamatan Rancakalong, Sumedang. permasalahan yang diangkat adalah sedikitnya generasi muda yang terlibat dalam Upacara Adat Ngalaksa. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut peneliti merumuskan beberapa rumusan masalah sebagai berikut: (1) bagaimana faktor penyebab generasi muda sedikit terlibat dalam upacara adat ngalaksa, (2) bagaimana proses pewarisan Upacara Adat Ngalaksa, (3) bagaimana upaya yang dilakukan agar upacara adat terjaga eksistensinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1) faktor penyebab generasi muda sedikit terlibat dalam upacara adat dipengaruhi faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. faktor internalnya yaitu generasi muda tidak memahami makna upacara adat, kesiapan dari pewaris, masyarakat berorientasi pada ekonomi. Faktor eksternalnya adalah upacara adat dianggap membosankan, masyarakat disibukan dengan bekerja/sekolah, pengaruh lingkungan teman sebaya dan tidak ada proses pembiasaan dalam kehidupan sehari – hari. (2) pewarisan upacara adat dibagi menjadi dua, yaitu pewarisan pada keluarga sesepuh adat dan pada keluarga bukan sesepuh adat. pewarisan pada keluarga sesepuh adat dilakukan dengan sosialisasi represif, sedangkan pada keluarga bukan keturunan sesepuh adat sosialisasi dilakukan secara partisipatif. (3) upaya – upaya yang dilakukan untuk menjaga tradisi ngalaksa dilakukan oleh berbagai pihak seperti tokoh adat dengan mendirikan sanggar, sekolah dengan mengangkat seni tarawangsa yang merupakan seni pengiring upacara adat sebagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dan pementasan, pemerintah mendirikan monument tarawangsa dan mengngkat seni tarawangsa masuk kedalam MURI (Museum Rekor Indonesia). ; This Research discusses Ngalaksa Traditional Ceremony in Kecamatan Rancakalong, Sumedang. Limited number of young generation who is involved in the Ngalaksa Traditional Ceremony is taken as a complication in this research. Based on the complication researcher formulates this following several research questions: (1) How does the number of younger generation which is involved in Ngalaksa Traditional Ceremony is minimum. (2) how is the inheritance process of Ngalaksa Traditional Ceremony. (3) how to maintain the existence of Ngalaksa Traditional Ceremony. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results shows that: (1) factors causing the younger generation which is involved in traditional ceremonies is minimum is influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors that the younger generation does not understand the meaning of the ceremony, testator’s compliance, community-oriented economy. External factors, the ceremony is considered as a boring tradition, people are busy with work / school, the influence of peer environment, and there is no real implementation in daily life. (2) the inheritance of the traditional ceremony is divided into two, among the elders’ family inheritance and amongs the family which is not belong to elders’s family. Among elders’ family inheritance is done by repressive socialization, while the families which are not belong to elders’ family are done by participatory socialization. (3) Several efforts has been done to keep the existence of ngalaksa tradition by various parties such as traditional leaders by establishing a traditional art studio, school adds tarawangsa, an accompaniment art for the ceremony as an extracurricular activity and hold some shows, the government set up a monument of tarawangsa and promote the art of tarawangsa to enter MURI (Indonesian Museum of Records).
