Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas mengenai adaptasi keluarga pemulung terhadap gaya hidup masyarakat perkotaan yang menuntut masyarakat untuk hidup bersosialisasi, berkomunikasi, mampu berinteraksi, serta beradaptasi dengan lingkungan khususnya di keluarga pemulung yang tinggal di lingkungan perkotaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap keluarga pemulung yang berasal dari beberapa kabupaten di Jawa Barat yang bekerja sebagai pemulung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: mengetahui gambaran keluarga pemulung dilihat dari tingkat pendidikannya, status sosial ekonomi, mengetahui gambaran gaya hidup keluarga pemulung, mengetahui pola adaptasi keluarga pemulung, dan mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi adaptasi keluarga pemulung terhadap gaya hidup masyarakat perkotaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa: observasi atau pengamatan, wawancara, studi dokumentasi dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tujuh keluarga pemulung mengalami perubahan kehidupan setelah memilih tinggal di perkotaan ditandai dengan adanya perubahan lingkungan dengan harus bisa menyesuaikan di lingkungan baru, peningkatan ekonomi, pendidikan anak-anaknya yang jauh lebih baik dari orang tuanya, dan perubahan gaya hidup yang harus bisa menyesuaikan dari gaya hidup sebelum tinggal di perkotaan tanpa harus mengikuti gaya hidup masyarakat perkotaan itu sendiri. Selain itu desakan ekonomi dan penyesuaian gaya hidup di lingkungan masyarakat perkotaan juga merupakan salah satu hal yang paling dominan dalam adaptasi keluarga pemulung terhadap gaya hidup masyarakat perkotaan tersebut. Hal ini berdampak pada berubahnya adaptasi keluarga pemulung itu sendiri serta masyarakat di lingkungannya yang baru. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keluarga pemulung harus bersama-sama berupaya untuk saling menyesuaikan diri, berinteraksi, dan bersosialisasi antara keluarga pemulung dengan masyarakat tanpa adanya rasa minder, malu serta rasa tidak diterima di lingkungan baru. ; The study discussed the adaptation of homeless family toward the urban society lifestyle. This study was did to the homeless family who came from some regency in Jawa Barat. The purposes of the study are: to find out the description of the homeless family from education level, social economic status, to find out the description of the lifestyle, to find out the adaptation pattern, and to find out the factors that influenced the adaptation of homeless family to the lifestyle urban society. The study used the methodology of descriptive qualitative with the collective data technique by: observation, interview, documentary study and literature study. The findings showed the seven homeless family were changed their life after chose to live in the city by the changing of environment they should adapt by new environment, economic increase, the children education were better than their parents, and the lifestyle should be changed from the lifestyle before they lived in the city without followed the lifestyle of urban society itself. On other hand, the economic exhortation and the lifestyle adaptation in urban society were the dominant things in the adaptation of homeless family toward the lifstyle of urban society. It impacted the adaptation changing of the homeless families themselves and the society in the new environment. This study showed the homeless families should be together to make effort to adapt, interact, and socialize between themselves and other society without feeling mindless, shy, and not accepted in new environment.
