Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan temuan masalah berkaitan dengan problematika kondisi yang terjadi di TK yaitu feminisasi dalam pengajaran serta kebutuhan anak akan sosok guru laki-laki dalam pembelajaran di Taman Kanak-kanak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan subjek penelitian yang terdiri dari 2 orang guru laki-laki di Gymboree Kidsville dan 1 orang guru di TK Firdaus. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah tematik analisis. Hasil dalam penelitian ini yaitu, Pertama, jurusan yang kurang popular, pandangan bahwa lahan pekerjaan di TK lebih tepat untuk perempuan, gaji yang kecil namun tidak menghabiskan waktu terlalu banyak. Kedua, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat laki-laki menjadi guru TK yaitu menyenangkan, menghilangkan stres, waktu yang flesibel dan ketidaksengajaan. Ketiga, gaya mengajar laki-laki di TK Gymboree dan TK Firdaus adalah gaya mengajar fasilitator. Keempat, hambatan yang dialami guru laki-laki yaitu sulit menghadapi anak karena pengalaman yang kurang, steriotype, dan mendapatkan pekerjaan lebih dari guru perempuan. Kelima, manfaat guru laki-laki mengajar di Taman Kanak-kanak adalah menjadi sosok pengganti ayah di rumah bagi anak yang tidak memiliki sosok ayah, kesetaraan gender di lingkungan sekolah, guru laki-laki menyenangkan dan menarik perhatian anak, membuat anak percaya diri, disiplin namun humoris serta memberikan banyak kesempatan untuk anak mencoba pengalaman belajar yang berbeda.; The research was done based on: First, the finding of problem was showed a small number of male teacher in early childhood education (ECE); Second, the opinion that only women can teach and educate in childhood age, eventhough the man can give more benefit in childhood development; Third, Teaching was related to the teacher’s style of teaching. This research was used case study method with two male teachers at Gymboree Kidsville and one male teacher at Firdaus Kindergarten as research subjects. Data collected techniques used in this research were observation, interview and documentation. Data analyze used were thematic analysis. The results were: 1) The small number of male teacher were caused by low popularity of ECE major, the small of salary and the opinion that women more suitable to be childhood teacher. 2) The factors have made the man to be a teacher in ECE were pleasurable relieve stress, inadvertence become a teacher and flexibility of working hours. 3) The teaching style of male teachers in ECE was facilitator teaching style. 4) The barriers experienced by less of experience, stereotype and got the more jobs from female teachers. 5) The benefits of male teacher for teaching in Kindergarten were become a substitute of father figure for fatherless children, the gender equality in child’s school environment, the male teacher pleasurable and rivet children’s confident, discipline but humorous and give more chance for children to try the different learning experience.
