Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca konsep kata pada anak tunagrahita ringan kelas III SDLB di SLB Nur Amalia Sumedang. Peneliti menggunakan media kartu kata bergambar dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca konsep kata pada anak melalui sebuah penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan sebanyak tiga siklus. Data diperoleh melalui tes formatif dan lembar observasi dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak tiga orang anak tunagrahita ringan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya dimana siklus I diperoleh hasil bahwa ketiga anak tersebut dapat membaca 5 sampai 6 kata. Pada siklus II dapat membaca 6 sampai 7 kata, dan pada siklus III ketiga anak tersebut dapat membaca rata-rata 8 kata. Berdasarkan kriteria ketuntasan minimal yang ditentukan, yaitu sebesar 80,00, maka penelitian dianggap berhasil pada siklus III, sehingga diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penggunaan media kartu bergambar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca konsep kata pada anak tunagrahita ringan kelas III SDLB di SLB Nur Amalia Sumedang.; This research is motivated by the lack of ability to read the words on the concept of class III SDLB mild retarded children in SLB Nur Amalia Sumedang. Researcher using a media card pictorial word with the aim to improve the reading skills of children through the concept of the word in a classroom action research. This classroom action research conducted three cycles. Data obtained through formative tests and observation sheet with research subjects as much as three children mild mental retardation. The results showed an increase in each cycle in which the first cycle showed that the three children can read 5 to 6 words. In the second cycle of 6 to 7 can read words, and the third cycle three children can read an average of 8 words. Based on the criteria specified minimum completeness, amounting to 80.00, the research is considered successful in the third cycle, so we concluded that the use of a picture card media can improve reading skills in children said the concept of class III SDLB mild mental retardation in SLB Nur Amalia Sumedang.
