Abstract

Latar belakang masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah kurangnya kemampuan membaca cerita pendek siswa kelas X MIPA-1 SMA Negeri 7 Bandung tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca cerita pendek siswa kelas X MIPA-1 SMA Negeri 7 Bandung tahun ajaran 2015/2016 sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode dramatic reading, peningkatan kemampuan membaca cerita pendek siswa kelas X MIPA-1 SMA Negeri 7 Bandung tahun ajaran 2015/2016 antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode dramatic reading, dan signifikansi metode dramatic reading dalam membaca cerita pendek siswa kelas X MIPA-1 SMA Negeri 7 Bandung tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen, dengan desain penelitian pre-test and post-test group, tekniknya adalah tes. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam membaca cerita pendek digunakan analisis data dengan cara analisis statistik, yaitu uji normalitas data menggunakan chi-kuadrat, uji homogenitas data menggunakan uji F, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh data yang menggambarkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa antara pre-test dan post-test. Dalam pre-test, hanya ada 11 siswa atau 27.5% yang mencapai nilai ≥ 75, sedangkan dalam post-test, jumlah siswa yang mencapai nilai ≥ 75 dalam membaca cerita pendek meningkat menjadi 31 siswa atau sebesar 77.5%. Berdasarkan hasil uji t, terbukti bahwa t_itung (7.51)>t_tabél (2.46), artinya hipotesis alternatif 〖(H〗_a) diterima, sedangkan 〖(H〗_0) ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat dikatakan bahwa metode dramatic reading bisa meningkatkan kemampuan membaca cerita pendek siswa kelas X MIPA-1 SMA Negeri 7 Bandung tahun ajaran 2015/2016.; The problem background of this research is the lack of ability in short story reading of X MIPA-1 SMAN 7 Bandung academic year 2015/2016. The purpose of this study is to discribe reading ability in short story reading of X MIPA-1 SMAN 7 Bandung academic year 2015/2016 before and after dramatic reading method is applied, the increasing of reading ability in short story reading of X MIPA-1 SMAN 7 Bandung academic year 2015/2016 before and after dramatic reading method is applied, and the significance of dramatic reading method to increase reading ability in short story reading of X MIPA-1 SMAN 7 Bandung academic year 2015/2016. The research method is quasy experimental method, used pre-test and post-test group design. The technique is test. To know the student’s ability in short story reading, data analysis is used with statistic analysis, which are chi-square for normality data test, F-test for homogeneity data test, and t-test for hypothesis data test. Based on the result of the study, the increasing of student’s ability is gathered from the data of pre-test and post-test. In pre-test, there are just 11 students or 27.5% who achieve ≥75, meanwhile in post-test, the number of students who get ≥ 75 in short story reading are increase until 31 students or 77.5%. Based on the result of the t-test, shown that t_value (7.51)>t_table (2.46), it means that the alternative hypothesis 〖(H〗_a) is accepted, meanwhile 〖(H〗_0) is rejected. From the result of the study, it can be conclude that dramatic reading method is able to increase the reading ability in short story reading of X MIPA-1 SMAN 7 Bandung academic year 2015/2016.
