Abstract

Pendidikan karakter telah menjadi wacana yang hangat dibicarakan oleh para pakar pendidikan. Pasalnya, kasus-kasus moral yang sering terjadi pada beberapa siswa sekolah menengah pertama khususnya di Kota Bandung disebabkan oleh pendidikan yang hanya menekankan pada aspek kognitif saja dengan mengabaikan penanaman karakter di dalamnya. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengambilan data triangulasi dilakukan terhadap 236 siswa SMP di Kota Bandung untuk melihat keterkaitan antara kecerdasan majemuk dengan karakter pada isu rokok dan gunung meletus. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa Semua kecerdasan memberikan kontribusi yang hampir sama dalam pembentukan karakter siswa. Rata-rata siswa di semua jenis kelompok kecerdasan sudah memiliki empat sampai lima komponen karakter baik pada aspek moral knowing maupun moral feeling. Sedangkan pada aspek Moral Action, rata-rata siswa sudah memiliki minimal satu komponen karakter dari dua komponen karakter moral action. Pendidik yang mampu mengakomodasi semua jenis kecerdasan siswa di dalam pembelajarannya diharapkan mampu menanamkan karakter dengan lebih baik. Kata Kunci: Kecerdasan Majemuk, Karakter, Tes Dilema Moral (TDM) Character education has become a discourse that is much discussed by education experts. It is undeniable that many immortal or unlawful cases happen among secondary school students especially in Bandung may have been triggered by education; the education which only emphasized on the cognitive aspects and ignored the cultivation of character in it. This qualitative descriptive research utilizing the triangulation techniques in collecting the data was conducted on 236 junior high school students in Bandung. The purpose of this study is to see the connection between multiple intelligences and characters on the issues of smoking and volcanous. This study provides a result that all types of intelligence give almost similar contribution in character formation of the students. On average, students in all types of intelligence group have already possessed four to five good character components on the aspect of moral knowing and moral feeling. Meanwhile, on the aspect of Moral Action, the average students have already possessed at least one component of the two character components of moral action. Educators who are able to accommodate all types of intelligence that students possess during the learning process are expected to be able to instill better character in the students.
