Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan pendidikan masa depan yang menuntut penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran yang melatih individu untuk berpikir kreatif dalam memecahkan masalah nyata menggunakan konsep-konsep yang telah dipelajarinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implementasi pendekatan problem-based learning dalam pembelajaran kimia dengan konteks pembuatan es lilin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah praeksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Bandung. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 29 siswa kelas XII MIA. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa format penilaian perencanaan pembelajaran, format penilaian pelaksanaan pembelajaran, format penilaian jawaban LKS, format penilaian sikap, format penilaian keterampilan, dan butir soal. Data pretest-posttest untuk penguasaan konsep dianalisis melalui uji statistik dengan program SPSS Versi 16 for Windows. Berdasarkan penelitian, kinerja guru dalam merencanakan pembelajaran memperoleh persentase nilai sebesar 97% dengan kategori sangat baik, kinerja guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran memperoleh persentase nilai sebesar 88% dengan kategori baik, sedangkan untuk kinerja siswa diobservasi dari aspek pengetahuan memperoleh persentase nilai sebesar 82% dengan kategori baik; aspek sikap 96% dengan kategori sangat baik; dan aspek keterampilan 96% dengan kategori sangat baik, serta berdasarkan uji statistik, penguasaan konsep siswa secara signifikan meningkat sebesar 23%. Kata kunci : problem-based learning, kinerja guru, kinerja siswa, penguasaan konsep, pembuatan es lilin. This research is motivated by challenges of future education which is require implementation of learning approach that trainee individuals to think creatively for solve the real problem using concepts that they have learned. This research aims to know implementation of problem-based learning in chemistry learning with the making of “es lilin” context. Research method which is used pre-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. This research has been done in one of the high school in Bandung. The research subjects were 29 students in grade XII. Research instruments which is used involve learning plan assessment format, learning implement assessment format, answers worksheet assessment format, attitude assessment format, skills assessment format, and items. The data of pretest-posttest for concepts mastery is analyzed by statistical test used SPSS Version 16 for Windows. Based on research, teacher performance in learning plan has percentage value of 97% with category is excellent; learning implement has percentage value of 88% with category is good; while for students performance which is observed from knowledge has percentage value of 82% with category is good; attitude has precentage value of 96% with category is excellent; and skill has percentage value of 96% with category is excellent, and based on statistical tests, concepts mastery significantly increased by 23%.
