Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil belajar Bahasa Indonesia pada materi menulis karangan bebas di kelas IV SDN 5 Cikidang Kabupaten Bandung Barat yang belum mencapai KKM yang ditentukan yaitu 60. Siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mencari ide pokok bahasan, sulit merangkai kata, penggunaan ejaan dan tanda baca yang kurang tepat, serta tidak ada motivasi dalam menulis. Maka dilakukanlah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas untuk menjawab hal tersebut. Yaitu dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek, dengan pembuatan majalah dinding sebagai proyeknya. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara tes, observasi, wawancara dan analisis data. Tujuan penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan bebas pada siswa kelas IV SDN 5 Cikidang Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah “Bagaimana penerapan model Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan bebas siswa kelas IV SDN 5 Cikidang Bandung Barat?”. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus dengan langkah-langkah pembelajaran yang ditawarkan oleh The George Lucas Educational Foundation (Wibowo, 2012) yaitu sebagai berikut: (1) start with the essential question, (2) design a plan for the project, (3) create a schedule, (4) monitor the student and the progress of the project, (5) assess the outcome, (6) evaluate the experience. Hasil penelitian menunjukan tingkat ketuntasan pada siklus I adalah sebesar 72,8%, siklus II sebesar 72,8%, dan siklus III meningkat menjadi 81,8%. Rata-rata hasil menulis karangan bebas siswa pada siklus I sebesar 57,8, siklus II sebesar 63,9, dan siklus III sebesar 68,2. Adapun aspek yang dinilai pada hasil karangan siswa yaitu aspek pengembangan ide dan gagasan, kesesuaian dengan tema, kelancaran peralihan paragraf, pemilihan diksi, ejaan dan tanda baca, dan kerapihan. Peningkatan tidak hanya terjadi pada hasil belajar semata, melainkan sikap siswa dalam proses pembelajaran pun meningkat. Misalnya, pada aspek antusias siklus I sebesar 72,70%, siklus II 92,3%, dan siklus III meningkat menjadi 100%. Aspek kreatifitas pada siklus I hanya 27,30%, siklus II sebesar 63,60% dan siklus III mencapai 81,80%. Dari data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan siswa dalam menulis karangan bebas meningkat setelah diterapkan model Pembelajaran Proyek. Oleh karena itu, guru hendaknya menerapkan model Pembelajaran Proyek sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Kata kunci: menulis karangan bebas, model pembelajaran berbasis proyek This research is motivated by the results of studying Indonesian at free writing material in class IV SDN 5 Cikidang West Bandung Regency which has not reached the specified KKM is 60. Students having difficulty in finding a subject idea, hard stringing words, the use of spelling punctuation is not quite right, and there is no motivation in writing. We conducted a Class Action Research to answer that. That is by applying the learning model of the project, with the creation of a wall magazine project. Research data collection techniques is done by testing, observation, interviews and analysis of data. The purpose of this action research is to improve the skills of free essay writing in grade IV SDN 5 Cikidang West Bandung Regency. Formulation of the problem of this research is "How can the Implementation of Project Based Learning to improve the skill of free essay writing in 4th Grade Cikidang 5 Elemantary School District of West Bandung?". This Classroom Action Research Consists of three cycles with learning steps from The George Lucas Educational Foundation (Wibowo, 2012) as follows: (1) start with the essential question, (2) design a plan for the project, (3) create a schedule, (4) monitor the student and the progress of the project, (5) assess the outcome, (6) evaluate the experience. The research result indicates the level of mastery in the first cycle was 72.8%, 72.8% of second cycle and third cycle increased to 81.8%. The average results of free essay writing on the first cycle of 57.8, the second cycle of 63.9, and the third cycle of 68.2. The aspect that assessed the results of the student essay that is aspect of the development of ideas and concepts, compliance with the theme, the smooth transition paragraph, the selection of diction, spelling and punctuation, and neatness. The improvement is not only happen on learning outcomes, but rather the attitude of the students in the learning process increases. For example, the aspect enthusiastic first cycle of 72.70%, 92.3% second cycle and third cycle increased to 100%. The creative aspect of the first cycle only 27.30%, the second cycle of 63.60% and 81.80% third cycle reached. From these data indicate that the student's skills in free essay writing improved after application of the model of Learning Project. Therefore, teachers should implement the project as an alternative model of learning to improve student learning outcomes. Keywords: free essay writing, Project Based Learning
