Abstract
Skripsi ini berjudul “Peran Thailand dalam South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) Tahun 1954-1977”. Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai peran Thailand dalam SEATO. Masalah utama yang diangkat dalam skripsi ini yaitu “Bagaimana peran Thailand dalam South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) tahun 1954-1977?” Permasalahan utama tersebut kemudian dibagi menjadi beberapa pertanyaan penelitian yaitu : (1) Bagaimana kondisi keamanan, politik dan ekonomi di Thailand menjelang tahun 1954? (2) Bagaimana latar belakang masuknya Thailand dalam South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) tahun 1954-1977? (3) Bagaimana kiprah Thailand selama menjadi anggota South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) tahun 1954-1977? (4) Bagaimana dampak keanggotaan Thailand dalam SEATO terhadap kondisi keamanan, politik dan ekonomi tahun 1954-1977? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan mengenai kondisi keamanan, politik dan ekonomi di Thailand sebelum tahun 1954; menjelaskan mengenai latar belakang masuknya Thailand dalam SEATO pada tahun 1954-1977; menjelaskan mengenai kiprah Thailand selama menjadi anggota SEATO pada tahun 1954-1977 dan menjelaskan dampak dari keanggotaan Thailand dalam SEATO terhadap kondisi keamanan, politik dan ekonomi tahun 1954-1977. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode historis, di antaranya yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu studi literatur. Sedangkan pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan interdisipliner dengan menggunakan disiplin ilmu politik, ekonomi dan sosiologi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa peran Thailand dalam SEATO tentunya memiliki peran yang vital. Jika Thailand tidak menjadi anggota SEATO mungkin saja SEATO ini tidak akan terbentuk dan sulit untuk menjalankan tugasnya dalam organisasi Pakta Pertahanan Asia Tenggara (SEATO). Selain itu, dengan masuknya Thailand sebagai anggota SEATO, Thailand dapat mempertahankan negaranya dari meluasnya pengaruh komunis di wilayah Asia Tenggara. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah pengetahuan bagi pembelajaran di sekolah dan untuk pembaca secara umum. --------- This paper is titled “The role of Thailand in South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) year of 1954-1977”. The main problem which is posed in this paper is “How The Role of Thailand in SEATO year of 1954-1977?”. Then, in this paper there are few research question: (1) How is the condition of security, politics and economics in Thailand ahead of 1954?; (2) What is the background of how Thailand enter South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) 1954-1977?; (3) How the progress of Thailand for being a member of the South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) 1954-1977?; and (4) How is the impact of Thailand's membership in SEATO against the conditions of security, politics and economics between 1954-1977? The purpose of this research are to explain about the conditions of security, politics and economics in Thailand before 1954; Describes the background of how Thailand enter South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) 1954-1977; explain about the progress of Thailand for being a member of SEATO in 1954-1977 and explain the impact of Thailand's membership in SEATO against conditions of security, politics and economics between 1954-1977. The research method used in this paper is the historical method consist of four stages, are heuristic, critic, interpretation and historiography. While the technique used is literary study about the sources that are relevant to the main subject in this paper. Whereas the approach adopted is interdisciplinary approaches using the discipline of political science, economics and sociology. Based on the result of this research, researcher got some conclution that Thailand in SEATO certainly have a vital role. If Thailand did not become a member of SEATO then SEATO might not be formed and it's hard to do its job in the Organization of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO). Besides that with Thailand's entry as a member of SEATO, Thailand can maintain the country from widespread communist influence in South East Asia. This research is expected to add knowledge and learning in schools and also for the general reader
