Abstract
Pendidikan merupakan salah satu kebutuhan di dalam kehidupan yang prosesnya berlangsung seumur hidup. Lembaga pendidikan dianggap sebagai salah satu saluran resmi untuk melakukan mobilitas sosial vertikal. Namun, kenyataannya tidak semua orang mampu mengenyam pendidikan dan tidak semua orang tua mampu membiayai pendidikan anak-anaknya. Keterbatasan ekonomi terkadang memaksa anak-anak untuk berhenti sekolah dan memilih untuk bekerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan dan menjelaskan mengenai persepsi keluarga pra sejahtera terhadap peranan lembaga pendidikan dalam mewujudkan mobilitas sosial vertikal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode penelitian studi kasus. Pendekatan dan metode ini digunakan untuk mendapatkan simpulan dari beberapa informasi dan data yang diperoleh mengenai persepsi keluarga pra sejahtera terhadap peranan lembaga pendidikan dalam mewujudkan mobilitas sosial vertikal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terhadap empat keluarga pra sejahtera di Kampung Kudang Uyah, secara umum mereka memiliki persepsi bahwa lembaga pendidikan berperan dalam mewujudkan mobilitas sosial vertikal. Namun, di lain sisi mereka juga memiliki persepsi yang berbeda mengenai peranan lembaga pendidikan. Perbedaan persepsi tersebut menghasilkan perbedaan sikap dan tindakan orang tua keluarga pra sejahtera dalam menyekolahkan anak dan mempengaruhi niat dan minat anak untuk bersekolah. ---------- Education is one of the necessities in life that the process lasts a lifetime. Educational institution is considered as one of the official channel to create vertical social mobility. However, the fact is not everyone is able to gain education and not every parents are able to afford to pay for education their children. The limitation of the economy sometimes forcing children to quit school and prefer to work. This research aims to describe and explain about the perception of pre prosper family to the role of educational institution in creating vertical social mobility. This research uses qualitative approach and case study method of research. These approach and method are used to obtain the conclusion from some of the information and data acquired about the perception of pre prosper family to the role of educational institution in creating vertical social mobility. Based on the result of this research in Kudang Uyah Village, in general they have the perception that educational institution has a role in creating vertical social mobility. However, in the other side they have different perception about the role of educational institution. That difference of perception produces a different way in the act of taking decision of the parent to send their children to school and produces a different intention and interest of children to attend school.
