Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan disalah satu SMA Negeri di kota Bandung dengan enam orang siswa kelas XI MIA sebagai subjek penelitian. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh profil model mental siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan dengan TDM-IAE. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan instrumen penelitian berupa Tes Diagnosik Model Mental-Interview About Event (TDM-IAE). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh profil model mental siswa kemampuan tinggi menunjukkan pemahaman parsial karena tidak dapat menjawab dengan benar walaupun sudah diberikan pertanyaan probing pada prinsip kelarutan garam sukar larut. Siswa kemampuan tinggi dapat menjawab dengan benar dengan pertanyaan probing pada konsep menjelaskan pengaruh ion senama terhadap kelarutan garam sukar larut secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, menjelaskan pengaruh pH terhadap kelarutan garam sukar larut secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, memprediksi terbentuknya endapan garam sukar larut akibat penambahan suatu ion, dan memprediksi endapan garam sukar larut akibat penurunan pH. Profil model mental siswa kemampuan sedang menunjukkan pemahaman yang utuh pada materi kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan dengan mendapatkan pertanyaan probing. Profil model mental siswa kemampuan rendah mempunyai pemahaman parsial karena tidak dapat menjawab dengan benar walaupun sudah diprobing pada pertanyaan untuk menjelaskan prinsip garam sukar larut, menjelaskan pengaruh ion senama terhadap kelarutan garam sukar larut secara kuantitatif, dan menjelaskan pengaruh pH terhadap kelarutan garam sukar larut secara kuantitatif. Siswa kemampuan rendah dapat menjawab dengan benar dengan pertanyaan probing pada konsep menjelaskan pengaruh ion senama terhadap kelarutan garam sukar larut secara kualitatif, menjelaskan pengaruh pH terhadap kelarutan garam sukar larut secara kualitatif, memprediksi terbentuknya endapan garam sukar larut akibat penambahan suatu ion, dan memprediksi endapan garam sukar larut akibat penurunan pH. Dari hasil analisis profil model mental siswa ditemukan sebagian besar siswa mengalami troublesome knowledge dalam mengidentifikasi spesi, menghitung kelarutan akibat pengaruh ion senama dan pH, dan memaknai nilai kelarutan. Threshold concept ditemukan pada siswa dengan kemampuan rendah yaitu konsep tetapan hasil kali kelarutan. Miskonsepsi ditemukan pada beberapa siswa yaitu dalam menuliskan reaksi ionisasi garam dan pada siswa kemampuan rendah menganggap bahwa koefisien reaksi tidak diikutsertakan dalam menuliskan rumusan konstanta kesetimbangan. ---------- This study aims to investigate/obtain students’ mental model of solubility and solubility product concept by the Diagnostics Tests of Mental Model-Interview About Event (TDM-IAE). The subject of this study are six 11th grade high school students in Bandung. This study use descriptive method with Diagnostics Tests of Mental Model-Interview About Event (TDM-IAE) research instruments. The result showed that mental model profile of high ability students shows a partial understanding, because they cannot answer correctly, despite being given the probing questions on the principle of solubility of insoluble salt. Though, they were able to give the correct answer to the probing on explaining common ion effect to the solubility qualitatively and quantitatively, explaining the effect of pH on the solubility of soluble salt, qualitatively and quantitatively; predicting insoluble salt precipitation as a result the addition of an ion; and predicting insoluble salt precipitation as a result from pH decrease. Mental model profile of moderate ability students had a whole understanding of solubility and solubility product concept with the help of probing. Mental model profile of low ability students had a partial understanding cause they were not able to give the correct answer to the probing on explaining principles of solubility of insoluble salt, explaining common ion effect to the solubility quantitatively; and explaining the effect of pH on the solubility of insoluble salt quantitatively. Though, they were able to give the correct answer to the probing on explaining common ion effect to the solubility insoluble salt qualitatively, explaining pH effect to the solubility insoluble salt qualitatively, predicting insoluble salt precipitation as a result from adding an ion, and predicting insoluble salt precipitation as a result from pH decrease. Based on the students’ mental model analysis, there were some findings of troublesome knowledge on species identification, solubility calculating as a result from common ion and pH effect, and solubility value interpretation. Threshold concept found from low ability students on solubility product concept. Misconception found from a few students on writing salt ionization, and that reaction coefficient is not included in writing equilibrium constant.
